It's really a shame they're the ones that get to use the Star Trek and Neverwinter IP's to make mmorpg's of them when all they do is butcher them. I guess it's a common practice in today's world of gaming greed as EA gets to repeatedly butch Star Wars as well.
I can't stand what they have done to Star Trek Online. The guy in charge of the game called the players losers and still has a job because he licks the companies butt when it comes to screwing the player base. Arc is just as bad as EA.

Cryptic is being run by straight up retards now.  Hard to believe it's the same studio that delivered City of Heroes.

How many key people have left cryptic since coh?

Whats funny is, the bad leave for a few months, realize they can not hack it in a real company and then come back to Cryptic in a few months and are offered C-Level jobs like Zinkievich and Stahl.

The topic has been shifted to the news and announcements - but that hasn't stilled the reaction to this 'it's always been a bug' approach from Cryptic.

Currently running at 52 pages and rising.

What poured more petrol on the fire (if any was needed) was a post from one of the Cryptic team saying they've decided not to disciple players who had used this bug.

Considering the feature has been in the game for years that would have affected just about everyone - it didn't help matters.

No idea how this is going to end up, as it seems to have been the final straw for even the longer serving players.

Tried to find any sarcasm over there, or an apologizing tone ("the finance people made us do it"), but nothing.
Seriously, using this bug... it doesn't even make any sense. Why, what's the other option?

"Yippe, boss is down! Let's open this chest [window pops up listing the items] damn, not that crap again! This rng sucks, now I have to buy an another key... [sadly looking at that nice and friendly Decline button, then still hit Accept]"

Yep, very reasonable and likely situation. Since by their standards, that's the fair way of "not using the bug".  Seems like they're digging the hole beneath them even deeper, on purpose...

It could be a bug, but i believe it is not. I think they let people preview so they can be seen as doing fair business when people can see what they will get. Clearly people were skipping too many boxes full of garbage (meaning, buying less keys) and now they realized they can milk more people by hiding the content.

Curiosity killed the cat. If you can't see whats inside the box, curiosity will hit you right in the wallet.

So anyway, when are they going to realise the cash shop was a bug and close that down? :)

I Believe it could be a great game and I would sink some money into it but, the amount they are asking for some of the race packs (i.e. Menzoberranzan pack) is absolutely ludicrous.  Who the hell would pay $200 for an expansion pack?  The items are even close to a collector's edition style pack.  Holy crap! Greedy much?!

MMOs are now more interested in adopting the worst business practice they can find for the most profit than anything else they could do to actually improve their game.

If you are going to adopt business practices from casinos to create a generation of gambling gamers you are not going to be bothered about a lie or two.
Can you blame them?  There are obviously enough idiots willing to keep paying them and make a profit.

Speak with your wallet and stop patronizing games and companies that do this.  If you keep playing you are part of the problem.
