World of Warcraft News - The World of Warcraft team has some good news for Legion players who love to have as many alts as possible. While faction reputation will not become account-wide, a pair of very welcome changes will be heading into the game with the 7.1 update. Most notably, upon hitting 110, players will unlock world quests without the need to have attained 'friendly' status with each faction. This kicks in once a single character on an account has completed these objectives.

Oh, that's good. Now they need to do something about the Artifact Grind. :)

Very good change. It made no sense that they let people pick the order of the zones for leveling when you had to do them all anyway.

@BillMurphy As you level up your Order Hall, you'll get those 5+ day long upgrades that will ramp up your AP gains a lot. It takes awhile but at about level 4-5 you start to see a big difference. Of course, that's just one character and that will have to be done on all characters. So, while it's great that they're unlocking the rep gains, the real grind, the AP and RNG equipment, isn't addressed here, sorry to say.

@Forgrimm I agree. From a lore / story standpoint, the "old way" of a linear progression through the story would have been much less fragmented. As it stands now, we, the meta game players, have to understand that everything happening in the Broken Isles is taking place simultaneously. While it's fine to have the open questing / world questing all over the map, the main story arc and side quests should have had a more linear approach in my opinion. It's far to easy to lose the urgency of the events in Legion as it is now.

They really need to make artifact >>> knowledge <<< account wide, would help a lot.

I'm really enjoying Legion. It is the expansion that brought be back to WoW (for more than three days), so don't take this the wrong way...

It's takes a grand total of about 10 quests to get Friendly with all 5 factions after you've already done enough quests to reach level 110. This is an almost meaningless gesture. Want to make the game more "alt friendly", make the Underlight Angler available to any character that is 110 or has a certain Fishing skill level. If you achieve 3 stars in a profession recipe, make it so alts get 3 stars as soon as they learn/earn the recipe.

Again, I'm not knocking the game at all, but this is not the definition of "alt-friendly".

@Albatroes they really need to make the artifact points class wide at least to make your 2-3 other specs viable without a ton of additional grinding.

They need to make AP and AK apply across all specs IMO. Also, the third relic slot shouldn't be gated behind quests that you can't advance for days after reaching 110. It should be made available as soon as you get to the level cap. If they do all that then most of my issues with the artifact weapon system would be gone.

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

Well honestly, grinding AP isn't that bad and I can see why its seperated, but AK seperation makes no sense. It takes 3 ish months to cap it so something seriously has to be done about. I'd even be satisfied if they kept it per toon but lowered it to 24hr timer with 100 resource investment per.

you have to remember there is not a single weapon to loot in legion and many weapons talents are lackusters at best, would you really expect to get all talent in a month ?

now remove all the grind and you can finally log in back to real life.

It seems like the genre is moving more towards account shared abilities. It is honestly fine with me, repeating grindier stuff over and over for all characters feel pretty pointless, It is better if the initial grind is upped a bit but removed from alts.

Hmm, I have the same playing pattern as you in EVE, for over 2.25 years now.....but 3 weeks is good too. ;)

Stopped playing at cataclysm, because i loved to start playing alts, but i hate that u have to grind all the rep again to get exalted with all the factions. If they ever consider to do the account wide reputation+achievements ,i would pick the game back up, 100% guarantee...

I am in no rush to fill out my artifacts.  Crafting on the other hand is ridiculous.  Getting recipes for 2nd and 3rd tier items, well good luck with that....they go for a fortune on the AH.

  • MardukkMardukk Member RarePosts: 2,222
I haven't even touched crafting yet, looks like a good thing based on people's comments.

This is a good change. Being required to quest all the damn time sucks. If you have suffered through the questing once, that should be enough.

Now to find more than one character I don't hate the class gutting they all took.

The catch up for Artiact Knowledge is in the game, but it's a bit stealthy... Yesterday my Shaman got Artifact Knowledge 2 and when the 3rd rank started it was halfway done, so it's definitely there. Still that doesn't change the fact that if I want to rank up my weapon I need to grind like a crazy person and that's just to be able to unlock all the traits I need for 1 spec...

In my opinion it would have been great if they made, so that 50%(heck even 25 or even 10%) of the AP you spend on your main spec goes also to your other 2 specs(or at least 1 designated spec)...
Because I don't know about other people, but for me with my limited time I can pretty much only play 1 spec at a "decent" level, because my other specs(whether on my main or alts) are simply too far behind with their traits...

That's a bummer for me especially when Blizz failed a bit with the tuning for classes and now they are doing all the work, buffing 1 spec, nerfing another... Not a great feeling if you have grinded 2 weeks like a madman and got your spec nerfed hahaha.

I'm fine with that, but I wish they would take achievements (at least the Holiday ones) and move them back to per character. It more or less makes the holidays pointless. I used to look forward to doing them on different toons before they were account wide.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Isnt it better for players to "whine" that it is way too slow to "upgrade" one single character, than to "whine" there is nothing to do and not play the game.
  • JimWraithJimWraith Member UncommonPosts: 127
Meh, as grindy as rep is, they should just make it global. I'm only ever going to intentionally grind rep on one character or if a recipe I want is gated behind rep. Also, how many different reputations do things like Cenarian Circle and the Steamwheedle Cartel really need? If I grind the crap out of the main faction, shouldn't the sub-factions already know who the hell I am?
  • GeorgeNoXGeorgeNoX Member UncommonPosts: 58
Great news, but too late, i already leveled all my alts to 110 and unlocked world quests on each. And this means nothing if they dont make reputations account or at least server wide, i dont want to grind rep on all of my toons individually, simply don't have that kind of time

No offense but you're starting to get as bad as Wizardry.  You both actively make it a point to always bring up EVE/FF11 whenever it's completely irrelevant.  But thanks for the laughs either way.
