Taxes are not needed. If they need more cash, let it come from other non-government sources. Taxpayer money shouldn't be spent on entertainment, period. The absolute most government should do is offer temporary tax breaks, and even that's almost too much IMO.

Almost every single problem with government stems from having too much of it.
An utterly short-sighted view. Why don't you talk to the people in Seattle and ask if they could fight this same fight all over again, if they'd see the Sonics go? Or (possibly) fans in San Diego when the Chargers leave town?

You can't stamp your foot in frustration and throw a temper tantrum about stadium dollars when there are 10 other cities cross country lined up, foaming at the mouth, to get their greedy hands on your franchise. Moreover, major public-private partnerships to build large civic projects have existed since long before America was even a country - it isn't going to change.

When a municipality lays out the dough for a new venue, they are paying for a lot of both tangible and intangible results: tax returns on ticket, food and merchandise sales, hotel rooms, prestige, popular contentment  - revisiting Seattle, who has neither a basketball nor NHL franchise, there are a lot of long, cold, dreary months when the local sports scene is essentially reduced to the WNBA (and it's SAD). No fanbase should be forced to suffer through that simply because a few curmudgeons like yourself get into a huff - it's not your money, it's our money.
I have absolutely no interest in professional sports. If you enjoy it, great you pay for it, just don't use tax dollars for it as I'm betting I'm paying more than most into the general fund.

I posted this in another thread, but guess this is official one

This is a great victory. Just because his game didn't sell well, doesn't mean he needs to face charges over it. A lot of games don't end up selling well. If every company came out with a failed game and then faced charges over it, there'd be no game companies left except companies like...EA...NCsoft...terrible trashy companies.

This is great news for future and current game developers

Also Kingdoms of Amalur IS a lot of fun. I still play it, he came out with a great game. Just didn't sell well is all.

I recommend waiting for a sale. Can get the entire thing (game and all the DLC) for I believe 5 dollars or so. Forgot how much I paid exactly, but I know its an incredibly cheap price during Steam sales. Even its base price, I found I've definitely got my money worth out of it.

The only complaint I'd have is kinda not really anything to do with the game itself, but it have been nice for it to be moddable like Skyrim. But, I find combat to be VASTLY more FUN than it is in Skyrim.

And with that, its probably why the game "failed". It came out shortly after Skyrim, and everyone compared it to...Skyrim

lol, we still would get the local tax dollars if we don't pay for the stadium.  As to the BS about 10 other cities lining up.  I live in Los Angeles and you can see how the NFL has been using us to get other cities to pay for their stadium by saying they will go to LA.

But the citizens of LA are tired of paying for stuff like this.  We know if we do, the Mayor and the city council will get to sit in the boxes and get benefits of this while the regular guy has to shell out crazy prices for tickets.  It doesn't help the regular folks just the rich.  F them and anyone who would support this stuff.

I can see no way in hell that Curt ever suffers any kind of penalty at all.IMO he might even look at a lawsuit versus his execs that look after his money.
I guess bottom line is they can simply claim 'i gave him suggestions" he accepted them.
Nothing wrong with Curt's vision, nothing short of effort and money,so what happened?Only answer comes to mind,he was surrounded by bad people.
