Allods has a Subscription Server? AND... No Cash Shop?

ArtificeVenatusArtificeVenatus Member UncommonPosts: 1,236
I just found this...

http://allods.my.com/en/subscription

It says it is a subscription server and has no cash shop  O.o   :3

If it is true that we should put our money where our mouth is, this is exactly the sort of place we should be voting with our money to send a message.

Maybe more mmorpgs will at least offer A Subscription Server completely without any cash shop on it.

I know it is an old game and all, but I think I know where I am gonna start playing in the next week or 2...

See you all there perhaps  B)

I liked Allods (no joke here I did) until i got to that one place where you were basically thrusted into PVP.  I like my games to either be PVP right out, or be avoidable all the way through. I don't like getting used to being a PVE game and then suddenly forced to do PVP.

Help me Bioware, you're my only hope.

Is ToR going to be good? Dude it's Bioware making a freaking star wars game, all signs point to awesome. -G4tv MMo report.

Pretty cheap sub fee too with no cash shop if people hate the f2p in general. Only part is the amount of people playing.

Ah. I happen to like PvE, with the ability to avoid and-or participate in PvP when I want to do so. Perfect World International's Territory Wars, Nation Wars, PK Mode... and ArcheAge's War time and peace time... Both ideas as base concepts play well to people like us then. Too bad these mmo companies dont see how to build an mmorpg with these concepts.

I'll likely try it out as f2p first then, see what classes look like. If I like it, might as well give it a sub try. I do think this is one of the many I did try in the last 3-6 years, and just really didnt get into it or realized just how p2w it was from looking over their cash shop. Hopefully, it was the p2w cash shop bit turned me off... i'll see soon enough.

I'm for a sub only everyone on an equal playing field no cash shop type of server for any game. Downside is not enough people think the same.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

I felt like you did and subbed for a while to this Allod server. There was just no one there. I could never find a group to do content or PvP. It was a brilliant idea for a brilliant game... just too late. :(

I'd love to try it again, but all i'm getting is, connection broken, connection broken, connection broken...connection broken.  Can't even log into the servers.  Well I can try but my connection just breaks again.  Am I missing something, is their server down/congested for some reason, I tried to look for a forum but didn't see one.

Mild edit: After looking further and doing some work around I managed to get the site to show that bar at the top that had the forums. It appears the solution they give is fiddling with your firewall to allow you to join...well that sucks, not sure I want to be messing with my firewalls when it should work just fine.

Everyone will never be on equal footing as long as some can put 40 or more hours a week into the game and others can't.

So how does charging a sub for a F2P game make it better?.....This is the messed up thinking so many have here...Just because you pay a sub doesn't make it a better game......

The sub server is almost empty in this game. From what i hear this is an open world PVP game  and they try to hide that fact.

Subscription does not automatically mean a  good game. I don't understand this gospel some folk here seem to be advancing that somehow going back to how games were like vanilla WoW or subscriptions will automatically make the games good again.

Because for some of us it does. We don't want a game where since you dump 40000000000 dollars you are always better off then those that dont. It also means development wont be focused on the fools with 10k a month to dump into a video game. It will make the games good again, at least for me. I hate big games that are 100 percent focused on nothing, but the 1 percent that pay outrageous money for a game.

A sub with no cash shop on a decent game makes it at Great game these days.

Hey guys, I'm someone who plays on the pay to play server for Allods, it's a great game honestly but free to play got ruined by the hefty cash shop. I left the free to play server about a month ago after playing for 6 years to play on subscription server and it's been the greatest choice in a game I've made. $8 a month in a 3 month package really beats paying anything on free to play to even just survive. The game has a great story, and a lot of stuff to do at endgame. The only issue is leveling. The leveling system is very boring and tedious and it took me 2 days of constant play to hit the level cap, but nonetheless on the 24th they'll be having a few days of double XP from quests and mobs and that's the time to level. My.com and steam are working together to bring a free trial for pay to play to bring players to the server so they don't have to be destroyed on the free to play server. I'd say give the server a shot regardless, the population isn't that great but that shouldn't discourage you from finding a great guild with nice people on each faction and if everyone gets discouraged by a small population won't that make the population stay the same and not grow? So please give it a try, if you don't like it then you don't have to play it, if you do enjoy it then I'll either see you on the battlefield or in my guild. The real game doesn't start until you hit 70 though, because that's when the real fun begins.

The game isn't just open world PvP either, there are a lot of ways to queue for PvP as well as finding other leveling/endgame players to fight.
  • masengo7masengo7 Member CommonPosts: 13
Also to correct your thing about 40+ hours a week into the game, everyone is on equal footing on this server because you can only get so many items that you use to progress your gearing per day, and the lower gear you are the faster you'll progress because those with higher gear will bring you to their difficulty of dungeons and carry you through for the items.

Allods without the cash shop is actually a fun game (was, when i played anynway). IMO the most polished of all the direct WoW clones.

With that said, i personally dont think its worth a sub. It would have been better IMO if it had TSW/ESO/GW2 business model.

  • masengo7masengo7 Member CommonPosts: 13
Yeah I agree, but its been getting more popularity and more light shined on it since steam and will get more advertisement once my.com and steam finish their talk about the trial for the subscriptions. Poor advertising and marketing was the games downfall at the time once my.com grabbed it in 2014.
  • masengo7masengo7 Member CommonPosts: 13
But ever since steam they're actually doing stuff about it which is nice.
  • masengo7masengo7 Member CommonPosts: 13
If it had good advertising and a good cash shop I wouldn't have to be here now posting about the game sadly.
  • masengo7masengo7 Member CommonPosts: 13
The devs are consistent now because the updates are coming directly from mail.ru and the support fixes bugs as fast as they can now, which majority of the time is within a day or two. all classes are as balanced as possible at the moment which is nice and some are getting slight tweaks when 7.1 drops which is soon but nothing to really throw off the balance of stuff. The only thing that makes a character trash on the subscription server is the build you have, if you don't have a good build or know how to play your class efficiently then you will be garbage, and it won't be because of the cash shop. Its a great feature because it shows who is really bad at the game haha.

I was really happy with the 7.0 update rolled out. It feels really polished and I enjoy the game quite a bit. Population is kind of low, but I hope more people start playing. It really is a solid game, I wish they had a subscription server on release, game might have been more popular then.

Sir are you playing on the free to play model or the subscription model?

Yes, I checked into it when I found you can sub......But like you say, the idea came too late.

MMO's get only one shot and have to get it right in the beginning :(

The game had it in the beginning, they just threw it when they dropped the Gipat patch that brought the cash shop. Which is why sub is so great. I'd keep an eye out if you had quit because there will be a free to play trial for the server soon and hopefully it'll bring a great amount of players back to the game and populate the server.
