Thanks for that DrunkWolf the so called shallow game will have to suffice for now. Your name suits you well.

Thanks Blizzard for making the best FPS in years, now I can finally have a game to play for the near future.

We have had lots of hyped fps titles that offered short-term fun and that had fanboys in a wild fury, for a month or two and then they bailed on them.

    Titanfall
    Star Wars battlefront

Why is Overwatch different?  To me it looks identical and will follow the exact same path of those games, as in big for a couple of months and then huge player drops with the remaining few being milked to death with micro transactions.

Do gamers really never learn and are doomed to constantly repeat the same routine every time?  Seems like it to me!

My only beef with the game so far is sometimes it puts me in games like 1 second before the team I join loses.

Blizzard I can wait an extra 3 seconds for a match, I don't need to jump into matches this badly.

Forces you? How? Can the Overwatch heroes jump out of your screen and hold a gun to your head?
I believe he is stating this game was originally F2P, it is now B2P.

It really is sad that you'll have to shell out the box price for this and they will then try and charge you for boxes.  I have really enjoyed the OB but there's just not enough here to justify a real price.  Maybe when it goes on sale for $20 I'll pick it up if Blizzard has added more maps/balanced things out.

I believe that Overwatch will do great.

Like almost all Blizzard games it does not innovate in any aspect but it is very polished, it runs like butter, the combat / movement is beyond reproach, it is fun and finally it will get the usual high standard attention from Blizzard.

New games always have these rabid fanboys at first (BDO).But after a few months people wake up and see its just the same crap in a new skin. Remember how Archage was the second coming here and on other sites. The smart person never buys new games when they first come out.

Yes the game is fun, if you ignore the ability to one shot peeps :|
You can one shot people in Battlefield games, COD games, Counter-Strike games, TF2, etc. etc.... So yes, the game is fun, but one shotting is not an excuse for failure.

you also have to aim to one shot people in those games, in OW I can run into the middle of the entire team hit my " special " and kill them all. its pretty cheesy.
You are giving a misleading review.
When you go into the middle of the entire team or even just infront of the people, it is VERY easy to kill you before you even get to activate your ability past the button push. Certain people are headhunted more for their special ability stopping. When you go into your Special mode, which you only get 1x per match, unless your team is devestating the opponents in which case you might not get any... You are NOT invuln and die fast.

When you push the special when a healer IF you go invuln you ONLY heal those near you.

Is it cheesy if people don't target the biggest threat on the field right away when it's right in front of them? Yep.

Is it cheesy if people use a millimeter of common sense or strategy?
    Nope.

i dont think it will be any diff then anything else out. and they are proving me right with the whole "oh you can play for free for 4 days" thing. I havent bothered and wont untill they offer it f2p. blizzard has enough of everyone's money.
So they basically give you several days of free play so you can make up your mind about buying the game or not, and it's not enough for you, you want it for free ?
    Self entitlement generation...
Lol, cheap shot at young people.

I'll agree it was a bit of a young people cheap shot... but he isn't wrong; they give lots of time for people to make an informed decision on something Blizzard is fully upfront about costing money and they, being blizzard, want you, the customer, to be fully aware of what you're spending the money on if you choose to go forward wanting to play their game. It's very fair that they did this, they didn't have to provide this Open Beta time as they had a lot of information (polished game) from the prior CBTs.

It looks identical to Star Wars Battlefront to you? Uh... The micro-model looks like it will fit better with a game like Overwatch than one like Battlefront. Battlefront didn't bring a lot to the table, whilst the Moba elements brought over into Overwatch are likely to keep some die-hard retention, and having a likeable cast of characters with backstories goes a long ways to convincing players that spending a few bucks to get something for their favorite character is worth it. Just like League, but Overwatch will most likely never attain that kind of player count.

I see nothing wrong with the micro-transaction for cosmetics business model personally. I just don't like it when FPS games segregate their community by having purchasable map packages. No indicator as to whether Overwatch will be doing that yet.

Yes, gamers are a doomed lot.

Pretty sure even most BDO haters would agree that BDO isn't (just the same crap) I couldn't get into BDO because I don't have the free time for games that require heavier time sinks. But there's a lot to BDO that's fresh.

Either you're highly jaded/cynical of the entire MMO market (fairly common on these forums), or you have no clue what BDO is.

I keep the jaded, saw too much already to care for little fluffy things, and I simple can't ignore the poblems anymore.

only question I really want to ask is, why you think its is will be any good to start with? because its a blizzard game?

only think I saw till now is a weak generic game who want you to pay upfront to play with is based on moba, with also there is 2 others games who will launch close by with the same gametype.

also considerating how bad was the last games comming from blizzard dont' know why the hype
FOR HONOR, FOR FREEDOM.... and for some money.

it's not overly different, the extra abilities to a shooter is somewhat different, and now that esports is on the rise, this game is coming at just the right time to be the esport that gathers some real attention to the gaming world.

I had no hype-level for this game. I'm in no way a Blizzard fanboy and I currently don't play any Blizzard games. I have never played Hearthstorm or Heroes of the Storm. If anything i'm a bit "meh" about Blizzard since they (in my opinion) ruined WoW. In fact i'm sick of most games right now and i'm not actively playing anything. I have a long history of playing most types of games and i've enjoyed them. Lately i'm just burned out.

I randomly stumbled upon the Overwatch open beta the other week while lazy-browsing the interthewebz. I thought "alright let's give it a go". It was fun, real fun. Simple, clean and polished fun with a lot of dynamics and a super nice vibe throughout. I had seen a video or two before and it didn't look very impressive. Like most i thought "mjeeah looks like another TF2". After playing it I'm more hyped for this game now then i've been for any game in a long long time. It's a nice feeling and i enjoy it.

It had to be played for me to "get it" and understand what they're doing here. And it totally works for me. I also have a different lifestyle now than i had 10 years ago with a lot less time to spend playing games. Maybe that factors in and this game just seems fit in to my life right now.

So, for everyone claiming "Because it's Blizzard" - in my case that's far from the truth.
  • DKLondDKLond Member RarePosts: 2,273
    I don't like TF2 and I didn't like the Overwatch beta.

But people love TF2 - and Overwatch looks like a nice alternative with more characters. So, while I doubt it's all that different - it's probably going to be very popular for those reasons alone. Well, those and the fact that Blizzard employ some of the finest craftsmen in the business, and they don't release games until they're happy with them.
  • AstropuyoAstropuyo Member RarePosts: 2,178
Eh? Overwatch crushes tf2 as it should. TF2 is a really old game by our standards now....and it's also a game with a different theme..different humor and  well not everyone likes playing it despite it being "TF2". For instance on steam I know no one on my list that plays it. Yet they play CS:GO alot.

You guys mention TF2 as though it were the first fps to do team stuff and thus every other game that might have a remove comparison is written under "Something something did it better".

Really you are comparing classical to neo classical death punk. Do you know what kind of people do that?

The type that no one invites to events.

Besides TF2 is rough as fuck years after release YEARS and Overwatch is so polished that quite frankly you can't help but love it once you own it.

Then again I'm not too good to admit I enjoy blizzard IP's and their clean art styles.

But yeah sure OW is tf2...every game that has ever had two teams? Tf2. Clearly.

You can't hate on blizzard for giving fans what we want. Some of you want that Titan style mmo. Well sadly those days are done with for now.

Cope with it or go play some EA survival game.
