I think I remember reading that S42 first started as the intro to the entire game.  You would play S42 in order to get access to the entire sc universe.

SQ42 on PS4 directly contradicts all currently available information. Chris Roberts repeatedly said it will NOT be a console game due to technical limitations of the current generation of consoles.

It was said "Star Citizen will be on PC". Nothing was said about SQ42.

Yea you got something mixed up here.  SQ 42  is like having a storyline with quests and cutscenes that is instanced outside of the persistant universe.  There is no reason to believe it will have different models and ships.  No reason to make two separate engines when they can just use the same one for both.
Are you onto something or just on something?

The SC engine is far from complete. This was discussed recently. It would push SQ42 release to an indeterminable time, far, far from this time next year. They don't even have appropriate staff right now to finish the engine modification necessary in any predictable amount of time.

If you declare this as a FACT ... name and link your sources, as this contradicts the currently available Information.

Having some open positions on the CIG "Jobs" website (and an invitation by Chris Roberts to talented people) does not equal "lack of appropriate staff".

I doubt very highly SQ 42 will be 64 bit. If it is dont expect it until the end of next year if then even.

There hasnt been a single video of a 64 bit system gameplay shown, not one. So to think theyre ready to plug it in somewhere and it will be ready to play anything on is beyond naive. If they had such a video of their remarkable first time ever done 64 bit system it would be out there front and center as a PR monument to help them continue to raise more money from people 'on the fence'. But since they havent shown anything like that logic says it doesnt exist. Proof is the video in this thread.

People can also say that video wasnt this or that, well no one has ever said what this tech demo test bed theyre calling an alpha is actually an alpha of either. I have asked that point  blank question a half dozen times and it has never been acknowledged let alone answered. So in reality no one knows what SC world will be and no one knows what SQ 42 world will be other than the claims they make. People cite this thing they can do dogfighting in and run around a couple instanced hangers but no one really knows where that is going either. Thats why its a test bed tech demo, It lets them add stuff to test and it allows them to add modules when they get them ready. It isnt persistent it has no other core MMO features like crafting, economy, player interaction (other than shooting at each other) its just something theyre using to showcase the few jpegs they actually turned into something playable and testing their module connections thats it. If you want to call that an alpha so be it.

It's not my opinion, Erillion. It's a fact that's most convenient for you to overlook, or minimize from the official statements. It's so bad, Chris Roberts made an admission in a 10FTC.

The game is broken right now. The stuff you're enjoying in 2.x isn't the final engine.

10FTC mid April, Roberts discusses why they're having problems accommodating many players per instance, the seat of the issue in the server architecture, and the expressed need for engineers, a position for which CIG has difficulty filling.

I think @Adjuvant1 refers to 10 for the Chairman Episode 81, a long answer starting at timestamp 17.11 .... And this part most likely the one he means:

"We’re always looking for good people because the things that we need is networkers, there’s a big need for us on the engineering side, AI is a big need and physics – if there’s any physics geniuses out there but if you talk to anyone in the game business, those are all the areas that are it’s genuinely hard to find people. We’re moving along and it’s going to be pretty cool when it’s all said and done, cause it’s basically building a system, I’ve talked about it before, that the next generation of how you build these online cloud-driven systems, so we can distribute it across many servers and process more than you would in traditional single-server setups."

That is just part of a much longer answer on the technical aspects of servers.

I have read the transcript again. I watched the video again. He is using present tense mostly "...are working on.." with some past tense and a minimal amount of future tense.
Sorry, i do not know what you mean with "its all future tense". That facts (transcript) do not support your statement.

I'm not sure how they have shown 64 bit video at all. You are telling us though that they have done it when another dev has raised serious concerns about them pulling it off. Even if they did successfully do it they are going to run into even more problems now.

None the less, weather or weather not, this was what Chris was selling from day 1 and has stated that he already had several designs of the game already done.
Point as someone asked? The point is WTF has this team been doing for the last 2 years besides selling ships?
Everything they have been shown us is stuff 1-2 people can ready for presentation easily in short order.

So it really seems much like that article said, they have spent more time rendering sales videos than game making.Anyone that knows anything at all about game design ,knows how fast and easy you can make space. That one station they keep bantering around is nothing more than 3 people's work over maybe 3 months tops.
Point ...this is a LARGE team, where is the effort or results that state a large team has been working on the game?

I think it quite obvious that he already showed mismanagement and has WASTED multi millions and not achieved even a remote equal effort. So now he just rides the gimmick he already started, just keep promising more and more and keep taking in money, eventually even WAY over budget he will end up with a very average game of ships in cheap space maps.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Because it hasnt. Even Space Engineers, I think only the planets are 64 but the space part is still 32 and there is a reason for that, just like there is a reason none of SC is 64 bit despite what they try to claim. I dont have it but I am sure anyone with the .exe will see if its 64 or 32 bit execution or not. But even that doesnt prove much it just means SOME of it COULD be 64 bit in some way.

If SC was running 64 bit right now (64 bit as they have sold it) then guys would be getting 2-4 FPS, they arent theyre getting 10-32 which still isnt great but it surely is better than what they would be getting with 64 bit. The one good thing is that in the 2 years they claimed they were going to do this more and more video cards are ta least capable of running 64 bit, when they first said they were going to do this I think only the Titan had all hings necessary to utilize all aspects of 64 bit math.

Main issue is simply saying it is 64 bit doesnt mean the same thing thats why I did the LoL because what Erillion (still incorrectly) claimed wasnt what CR said he was going to do,, nor is it what other 64 bit games (including space engineers) already do.

Oh no need to explain yourself to me :) I just wanted Erillion to back up his claims with proof since he is always the first to yell for it when someone says something he doesn't like. And even if he does show proof he is admitting that the SC team is in even deeper water then they were before, kinda lose/lose situation for him so I just expect him to LoL the post and/or pretend it never happened

To spare us a lot of time and effort of rehashing the same links and arguments on 64 bit 3D engine  AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN .... we have been there in this subforum before, even recently. You will also find a lot of threads about it on the official forum. And i am sure reddit has a lot too.

"....Roberts cites the move to a 64-bit engine as a major milestone for the Cloud Imperium Games team, emphasizing that the move to 64-bit will allow greater precision and size for positional space. Of the move, Roberts said:

“There's a bunch of stuff that's really exciting. [The move to 64-bit] is less about 64-bit compile [and] more about 64-bit positional space […] Pretty much every 3D engine works in 32-bit, which is great for a normal FPS – because you usually don't have maps that are bigger than, say, 8km x 8km – but for us, we've got star systems that are millions of kilometers across and the precision of 32-bit just isn't enough.

We've spent about 8 months now – it's done – moving the engine over to 64-bit world space coordinates. The last part of it was moving rendering over so it became camera-relative. The GPUs themselves generally don't work in 64-bit – they work in 32-bit – but since you generally won't be able to see millions of kilometers away, the visible range is inside 32 bits, but the overall system space is much bigger. ..."
