Would you play World of Starcraft if it was modeled around Vanilla WoW mechanics?

Blizzard / WoW has cheesed off a lot of people, subs are dropping and there is a hankering by some for Vanilla WoW.  What if Blizzard were to create World of Starcraft and learned from their mistakes in WoW to release a game that had Vanilla WoW mechanics and didn't follow some of the disasterous decisions made in the ongoing development of WoW?

If you have some caveats or additional comments to make after your vote, please do.

I think (hope) they are already working on a new MMO, if it will be World of Starcraft i dont know...and vanilla mechanics or not, i dont care as long as it will be good. :D

At this point, I don't think even Blizzard has a handle on what made WoW so popular (it was mostly a combination of a popular IP, a ton of polish and being at the right place at the right time - aka luck).

As such, I don't think they could recreate it if they tried. They think they have the midas touch, but in reality, it would probably just turn the Starcraft name into a steaming pile.

I don't think the world would work as a MMORPG.

Diablo and Lost vikings would work but beside them Warcraft really is the only other IPO they own that would make an acceptable MMORPG.

For a FPS game, sure but they already tried and cancelled that. If you think the Division is a MMORPG then I guess I can see why you think it would work but it is at best a mix between a multiplayer FPS and a CORPG and the same concept would work with Starcraft but the question is if it would generate enough players or not. It would take 5 years to get one out, at least and that type of game is popular now, in 5 years things might be different, hard to say.

Just comes to what idea will it bring to the table? With out going in to making a skin over WoW is the same game but reskin.

I would prefer World of Diablo Modeled around Black Desert-Esque combat where you round up the mobs and unleash hell. Similar to Diablo but within the third-person perspective.

As a themepark game, I would play that all day long.

Lot of (seemingly) close minds regarding a Starcraft MMO, why would Starcraft not make a good open-world MMO? You could even become a general or something eventually and craft a base. You could then have people try to invade your base. If they win they get a bunch of currency, and you have to repair your base. Or if you win they pay you the fee it cost them to challenge you.

IDK just throwing out ideas, but the zones would on different planets, you could have ships like in SWTOR, 3 factions, plenty of "world event" opportunities for both PvP and PvE, you could even have an RTS metagame similar to Planetside 2 capture points and so on and so forth...

I don't want to play a reskinned WoW.

So, unless they introduce a lot of new features and gameplay mechanics - I'd most likely give it a pass, or at least stop playing shortly after release.

That said, I can't see Blizzard stooping that low.

They might not be very innovative, but they usually put a lot of effort into their products. They cancelled Titan for not setting itself apart enough, afterall.

Personally I am tired of hearing about "vanilla" WoW of late.  It was not the best aspect of WoW for me, matter of fact the end of TBC and beginning of WotLK was when WoW was the best.  That being said, I would play a World of Starcraft MMO and a World of Diablo easily, but it doesn't need to have any of the mechanics from WoW to do it.  Matter of fact, I kind of would hope it would be newer and unique.  Maybe a mix of Wildstar/GW2/ESO combat or something different altogether.

The lessons Blizzard needs to learn is to stop changing the stuff that works and to stop half assing ideas, like Garrison's being their answer to housing.  Major cop out there.  Also, to stop pandering to the loud mouths on their forums who only represent a tiny percentage of their player base and to stop the Raid only endgame mindset.  It stifles creativity when your game only points in one direction it also pushes players away who don't do that crap or have the time for it.

Back when World of warcraft started in the early Vanila days what i was thinking about was World of Starcraft... For me starcraft was more interesting to play as mmo and whatever i guess because i was a kid and aliens is cool n shit, but here i am grown up and i still want my world of starcraft. Ain't happening though, not soon atleast. Maybe if World of Warcraft dies out they can make new mmo about Starcraft since starcrafts lore has progressed so much. Bad luck though cause they are highly more possible to make the game bad than good, because nowadays blizzard catters to the casual and kids waaay too much just look at their new games, i have little hope for deccent 16+ game.

The problem is FPS's do not work well with the whole Trinity system of Tank, Healer and DPS.  What World of Starcraft would do is be a good Sandbox game that would be very close to SWG.

A Starcraft mmo would be awesome.

EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

Really not into starcraft universe, they'd have to do something incredible to reel me into that one.

A Starcraft MMORPG would be fun, just not one built off of decade-old mechanics.

That's just, like, my opinion, man.

WoW2 is a better idea than "starcraft online".

I voted, but don't think this will ever happen.  They can make so much more money with apps now.

As long as they do not reinvent the whole grind for gear experience that will be obsolete with the next update, i would give it a shot.

Currently playing browser games. Waiting for Albion Online, Citadel of Sorcery and Camelot Unchained.
Played: almost all MMO pre 2007

I doubt it. Vanilla is outdated and just wasn't fun beyond the leveling process. It wouldn't do for them to backtrack and design a game like they didn't learn shit about the genre over the years (people are gonna say this is the case regardless, though, I'm sure).

Modeled around vanilla WoW? No, been there and done that. Modeled around Tabula Rasa? Hell frigging yes, without the instanced zones please, but yes, hell yes.

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

You said Blizzard and learn from their mistakes.  Something that doesn't happen when it comes to mmo's.
