i would love to see a new strong IP enter the MMO scene....
a steampunk magical world build uppon a post apocalyptic world, with gates to other planets everywhere...
with both Openworld PvE areas as well as PvP... With resources comming from both PvE as well as other resources comming from or trough PvP... An open world..
But how do you build such a world from nothingness..
actually i think i know the answer to that, the answer is combined efforts, startout with an AAA movie with topcast, which should make money on itselves... Its not just a movie, but also the story setting the start of the MMO... And the use a TV series to advance the worlds story, if the movie is a success everyone wants to see the TV series.. And if the game is fun, and several different types of MMO players can live coexcistingly, you can have a place of legends...
but all the main pillars for creating a loving and hating community should be covered..
yes, i know, i sound like a little dreaming gnome, but i so want this.... A world that really comes alive trough content...
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Is it going to be a theme park or sandbox
Fantasy alternative history etc
btp sub or f2p
The mmo market at the moment is very much fragmentered across a wide variety of games , when i started on mmo's it was ultima online or meridian 59 so the market was grouped quite tightly . Then everquest came along and swg and same again . Also i do thin kthat people thought the mmo market would continue to grow thats why so many puiblishers got burnt
The whole idea is to have a new fresh strong MMO where everyone can play in their own style, but where both PvE as PvP are ballanced trough their own systems..
They should try and make money by selling content on top of under €10 subs.. imagine 3rd party companies creating new content thats behind a gate and can be bought by players trough an online shop, much like sepperate expansions for the main game, they could all have their different themes and settings.. 3rd party developers then only have to worry about creating content, where the main company creates the game systems.. The main company taking in the apple way part of the money generated by the sale, but the 3rd party company can use the tools created by the main company
The really strong part about a system like this is that there is diversity but also a main world where everyone can join up to socialise.. The main world is all about the IP, the offworld area's give 3rd party developers all the freedom they want...

Even Blizzard never had to launch an MMO that was already complete and incorporated every system that modern players dream of fresh out of the gate on day one.
Staggering up-front development costs for an uncertain market.
"Where did all the developers go?" They're looking at faster and cheaper.
"Where did all the players go?" To their phones, patiently awaiting the miracle that probably won't be coming.
