For a game to be good "for me", it has to be a MMO, and not one such as Destiny that often gets mis-classified as one.

In this case, the question/poll does NOT apply to you.

The premise is that you find a game "good" (subjective) and that it is mis-classified. So clearly it only applies to people who like games OTHER than the "pure" MMOs.
If you post a Poll on this website, then it apples to ALL readers and posters, in my opinion. If you want a specified answer from only certain People than you need to ensure that only a specific audience reads your posts. Since there are as many definitions to the terms "mmorpg" and "mmo" as there are people in Times Square on New Years Eve I suggest you find a way to arbitrarily narrow the field. I hope that helps your process.

Counterstrike is a good game. I suck at it so I hate it. Starcraft is a good game. I lvoe watching it but get anxiety attacks when I play. Would I play either? nope...they're good games to my perspective. Still wouldn't play them. LoL is a good game. See: Starcraft.

hmm ... you hate a game, and yet it is good to you. Something is strange here.

How about if i change the word "good" to "that you like"? Will THAT change your answer?

Why? Because I don't like being told one thing when the truth is something else.
You're talking about opinions there, not truth, big difference.
Telling someone a game is an MMO when it clearly is not isn't just an opinion. It's as obvious as gravity.

    The thing is I am sure everyone here would play a "good" game, even if it was called an mmorpg while not being one;
Obviously not. 13% of the voters vote "no". Are you accusing them of lying?

It was obvious from the onset this poll was a thinly veiled bait thread to rekindle an argument that's been done to death here.

It's a fallacious argument: whether or not a game has quality has no bearing whatsoever on what genre that game is listed under by, well, anyone.  In fact, those that create the game and impart that quality, many times, have never even met those who will later categorize the game (for better or worse).  The poll question has no real bearing to the OPs underlying argument (that is, that MMO should be used to describe any online game anyone with a blog spot or an advertising office want it to).  Only through circular and fallacious logic do the results make any kind of argument either way.
Why you using articulate speech and ignoring the simple obvious question this poll is answering?  It's not hard or complicated.  The game is good but I refuse to even play it because everyone called it a mmo.  The mindset of that person evolves around the fact that he is hung on how games are classified more then on if the game itself is fun.  The purpose of the poll like many others is to find what number of people on these forums would actually do such a thing.  Since there has been many heated debates on what a mmo is he wanted to see how far people would actually go to prove a point or prove their bitterness on the topic.
Because there's absolutely no prior evidence to suggest this poll would provide anything but an overwhelming "Yes."  In those other arguments in other threads prior to this one, it wasn't the qualities of the game that were under question; it was the way advertisers and gaming websites have broadened the definition to uselessness.  It was how SuperData uses this broadened definition to lump titles together in order to paint a very obscure portrait of the online gaming landscape.

Nobody (or never enough to justify a poll) said they refused to play a game just because someone called it an MMO.  That was a fantasy conjured up by the OP to justify creating a poll arbitrary to the argument he really wants to discuss: the broadening of the definition of the MMO.  The upside (for him, and the very foremost reason he created the poll) is, since the poll was overwhelmingly a "well duh, who the hell said otherwise?" the OP gets to say "See?  Nobody cares about the definition of the word MMO anymore.  I'm right!"

Which, if you're using sound logic, is neither supported nor contradicted by the poll he actually posted.  It's superfluous information used in an attempt to make a fallacious argument about the OP's favorite topic of discussion.

Nope. you can hate good things. Welcome to the human condition. Is that too intellectual?

I hate Tomato's. They are apparently 'good' and tasty and all that but I don't like them.

But back to the point of the poll.....proving Narius is 100% right......right?

Why don't you deal with that argument if/when he makes it? It'll save a lot of time (and save you from the fallacy of arguing against a statement that hasn't been made yet (presupposition).

This thread's all an elaborate plot to set up an irrelevant conclusion!!

You're assigning an awful lot of motives and telling us what he thinks, too.

Even assuming your characterizations are accurate, wouldn't it be better to let him hoist his own petard? At that point he could, surely, be easily sliced apart with the power of a discerning scalpel.

Why is it so strange that some people will refuse to play a wrongly classified game even if its good. They are the only people with some moral courage here and the reason why you can make these polls.

I think the OP is trolling.

Now days, if a game is classified as an mmo I most likely won't play it or even look at it.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I have seen some serious trolling on this thread and its kinda sad and very very strange.  Read the title question,  then read the description given in the OP.  It answers over half the questions or crazy statements people have been giving in this thread.  There is at least 15 comments from people going into great details about their answer or argument against the poll and they appear to be from people who haven't even read the OP.
Are you onto something or just on something?

Ah now that I've read it I am even more surprised than only 12% have any self-respect. Thank you for helping me see it more clearly.

lol ... you need "moral courage" to have fun using entertainment products?

Learning about strange preferences like this ... is exactly the reason why I make these polls.

@nariusseldon No, you need it to not allow yourself to be led like a donkey. I know, strange concept. I find it strange that you dont mind being mislead, but ok. Different strokes for different folks as they say.

    Talking about accurate labelling...

If you met a girl, got together 'physically', then got told 'she' was a 'he', would you still be fine with mislabelling things?

If a fruit is "nice", would you eat it even if it was labeled as vegetable ?

Would you be really irritated if you went to the store to buy more of that fruit, and couldn't find it anywhere in the fruit section ?

We label and classify and sort things for a very good reason, i.e. to make life simpler and more convenient. Mislabeling causes frustration and wastes time. Mislabeling certain chemicals can cause death...

@GrumpyHobbit ; hey man you started an argument on your misunderstanding.  Well that's not working because the reason naurssaldon said that 1 vote didn't count is because that 1 vote didn't try to answer the question.  Instead he created his own question and answered it.  Its just that 1 vote not all the votes for no that he was referring to.

Also we are talking about potato potato right now.  Some people are making it extreme difference and its not really.  The real analogy should be someone advertising a red car and its actually maroon or some off red color instead.  Not a green car or blue car an off color red car that is very close to the red car but its not technically a red car.

Are you onto something or just on something?

Then you should clarify your statement is only based on the fact that the devs classified it wrong not other websites.  Because any self respecting person will not hold the devs accountable for what other websites are saying about their game.  I'm not here to disagree with what you decided but I do wonder how you relate self respect with playing and enjoying a game simply because developers weren't smart enough to label it properly.   If that was the case then you would have to ignore 90% of the games on the market right now.  Unless you feel they are cheating you by saying it is something that it really isn't.  Developers have nothing to gain by calling their game a mmo.  Mmo's aren't popular in case you didn't notice.

Because I've read way too many of his posts in the past to be bothered to wait for him to make the same exact argument he always makes, regardless of any evidence or reasoning brought against it.  If you'd like to check his post history, you're more than welcome to it.  I don't need to, because I've read it firsthand in countless threads that were either very distantly related to his argument or not related at all.  Yet still, in each of those, he references that same exact thing.

I've called it what it truly is, presupposition be damned.  And I'm fairly certain there's more than a few other regular posters who can see it for what it is, too.

Not that I have anything personally against OP, I just tire of the ceaseless discussion over the same issue he brings to pretty much everything, especially when it's been brought up in threads that aren't even related to the argument.

There I can cut some things out of a comment and take it completely out of context too.  That is what you wrote after all.
