In CU there will be caravans (I guess with resources) and there will be crafters.

In GvG (AoC) there a strong sense that the resources you gathered (in sort of "cravan runs") mattered.
Example: Great! now we gathered this and that kind of resources so now our guild's walls be upgraded to a new tier (so they are better protected against enemies). Or now our crafters can make better weapons for guild mates in the smithy we can upgrade with the resources we gathered.

However in RvR, will someone even notice that you gathered those resources so something became better? Will someone even notice that an "architect" type of crafter put down many hours to upgrade a wall? Or will every resource/material run and crafted building be a drop in the ocean? And will everything gathered and crafted go unnoticed by your approximately 1000 realm "mates"? Because in many ways in RvR the realm is the guild...
