Anything like the Borderlands series?

I've put hundreds upon hundreds of hours into BL1/2/TPS and I'm looking for something new, but still a bit 'samey' (an FPS with randomized loot). 

The only things I can think of would be Destiny (don't own a console though) and Defiance. I tried Warframe and while it's fun it does lack the loot system that I'm looking for. The next closest thing I can think of would be isometric ARPGs like Diablo 3/Grim Dawn/PoE/etc. 

Is there anything else out there that has what I'm looking for?

    If you want an FPS with action RPG thrown in, borderlands is it. As you said, the closest thing is action RPGs.

    i can think of 4 i have played defiance,firefall,fallen earth,planetside all have elements your looking for too some degree first 3 probably more so because they mainly pve  and planetside is pvp if u like pvp i can add WWII online

    Tribes and Warframe come to mind... But the open world element isn't there.
