Self-representation on the internet: Avatars in online computer games

You are invited to take part in a research project examining the use of avatars in online computer games. A primary objective of this study is to explore the characteristics of avatars created by their owners. The study is being conducted by Bradley Fissore and will contribute to the completion of a Bachelor of Psychological science degree at James Cook University.

If you agree to be involved in the study you will be invited to participate in an online questionnaire. The questionnaire is expected to take approximately 30 minutes of your time. The questionnaire will be completed on the SurveyMonkey.com website which you can access from your home computer.

If you know of others that might be interested in this study, please pass on this information sheet to them, and alert them to the availability of this study online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Self-representation_online

The survey is anonymous and all answers are confidential, results will be reported in statistical form without directly identifiable information. The data from the study will be used in research publications and reports. You will not be identified in any way.

Taking part in this study is completely voluntary and you can stop taking part in the study at any time without explanation or penalty. You may decline to answer questions or withdraw from the study at any time without penalty. While completing the survey you may take a break and come back later provided you don't close the internet browser.
