End of AAA games?

MaurgrimMaurgrim Member RarePosts: 1,334

So the AAA game studios seems to hold what they already got and a zerg of indie/early access/kickstarter games pops up all over.

I really dont like what I see, so many games that promies everything we all like to see in a game but they need cash so we have early access/kickstarter to pay for it and they still cant deliver so instead we see that fancy word "potential"  from game reviewers................fuck that

I'm sick and tired of all these clown games that pops up all over that promise everything and his grandmother.

Need to see a proper AAA game not some half baked kickstarter or some poorly made early access, give me a real game then I'll pay.

Well, you do have a point if we are talking about Western games. The only possible exception from a high profile developer right now is Microsofts/Undead labs "Class 4" but I havn't heard anything about it for a while so it might be cancelled as well.

But the real problem is that few of the AAA MMOs in the last 10 years have been that very different from other games. Yeah, there is GW2 who did things it's own way, TOR who tried implementing Biowares solo games ideas and TSW who had some radical ideas, but mostly we got the same thing over and over.

If they just rehash the same ideas over and over it doesn't matter how many new MMOs we get. At least the kickstarter and indie games try to do things differently, once they get something right I think we will see a new interests in it from people like Blizzard and EA.

Few of the larger publishers have much original ideas anyways, they prefer to buy companies that have one and make sequels instead of exeriementing and trying out new ideas.
