I haven't seen this on a lot of internet sites.
So I am linking it here for your perusal and discussion.

TLDR : Star Citizen is a ponzi/pyramid scheme.

After reading that I nearly spit my tea over all my screen. That has to be a joke? It was like a teenager trying to write legal documents; trying to sound official. Did you read that 'complaint'? Something, anyone here could write up and submit?
LOL
Here's a heartbreaking for you. The FTC isn't interested in someone's long winded rant based upon their feelings. They're interested in evidence. If they 'investigated' every single FTC complaint, even the long-winded ones, then people like Derek Smart would bog the system down for years & waste millions in tax-payer dollars.
The FTC could be a used as a weapon to, you know, harm competitors.
Yes I read it. He states in the first sentence he is 30 years old.

He writes like someone introduced to new terms then wants to use them to sound smarter than he is.
Despite your sensationalism and unfair criticism of the complaint that was actually very well put, in general terms, in my opinion, complaints to FTC are made by customers, not by professionals, so, you shouldn't require from any complaints like that something that only a attorney could make.
I think they (FTC) might have close to 90 million reasons to become interested.

People can waste the FTC's time all they want throwing hissy fits because they're rambling on about their own philosophies, but the reality is that law & 'evidence' will dictate what happens. Btw, anyone with a program that saves PDF's could create something similar with all kinds of 'complaints'; or in this case, opinions.
The FTC isn't going to investigate someone's opinion.
This is pure ignorance. FTC usually pays more attention to number of complaints than content.
No customer is required to provide "proof" when complaining. That's what FTC will look into, in case of getting many complaints or become visible the issue, by the quick look that they do into the content of the complaints.
In other words, FTC do not use absolutely nothing of the content of a complaint. They made their investigation from scrtach, by themselves, without getting information of parties.
Except that they opened a departament with people exclusively looking into complaints related to crowd-funding games.
Guess what is the biggest crowd-funding of all times? Guess what FTC would do if receiving some complaints about that?
I bet that they are already looking into it. And if not, all the things that are coming from places even outside of usual "games circle" tends to call them even more attention, if they are not yet involved.
The thing is... if they start an investigation... its going to be the end of Star Citizen project.
I'm going to level with you here. If there was a story here then there would have already been an article via a major media outlet.
Derek Smart is playing you all for fools.
So are you saying that the FTC has made some kind of ruling that states the Star Citizen is a ponzi/pyramid scheme? This is what you are implying with your last statement.

No. That is what the Author is claiming in his complaint.
(TLDR) Means Too long did not read. So it's a short version if you don't want to read all 12 pages.

So, let's say that it kills the project, but the project was just hitting various delays or unforeseen setbacks? You know, stuff that always happens in large scale projects? So, we then find out that everything was legit, but now all the backers are really out of both money and a game; 300 people are out of jobs; and all because a small minority of people, led by Derek Smart (of all people), felt entitled to CIG bowing down to their demands.
Did you pledge to the Star Citizen project, btw? What about the OP?
I'm seeing a lot of people wanting CIG to bow down to Derek Smart's demands, but also never pledging...
This speaks volumes to the pure vileness of the Internet hate mongers looking for drama; even if the drama is manufactured instead of being legit.
The fact that the term ponzi-scheme is used tells us that he (nor you) have any concept of what a ponzi scheme is.
LOL
YOu went out of your way to post this link. Trolling?

No I thought it made for an interesting read.
Seeing that Star Citizen is being discussed on many gaming websites, i thought I would link this to
be discussed here. I apologize that you had to read it.

This place is about discussion. Why don't you tell us what you feel is right/wrong about the complaint?

They won't. I've tried to get them to point out where my arguments against Derek Smart's demands were wrong. They dodge and ask why this is about Derek Smart. I explain to them why this is about Derek Smart & Star Citizen, but then they fall on (there's some valid points).
Anyone could mingle valid points with absurdity. People that do that have an agenda; which in Derek Smart's case is often an agenda of self-interest.
Have you read all 12 pages?
Me being accused of using the word ponzi scheme is just false.
Those are the words of the author of the complaint.
So lets clear the air. I don't think this is a ponzi scheme. So in that aspect I disagree with the Author.
If you see anything else that you would like to challenge in the complaint, please post your concerns.

Its a public forum and people are free to talk about games that they themselves might not play. How do we know your not a paid employee yourself? Accusations are fun.
He has tons of Derek Smart threads.
Hopefully he does not derail this thread .
This thread is about a complaint to the FTC.
