wildstar is going b2p soon, and might be worth a look.
also, once it's released, no man's sky.
I was thinking about checking wildstar out when it goes b2p.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Actually you are wrong WildStar is going F2P not B2P. THe only games that are B2P are Guild Wars 1, Guild Wars 2, and The Secret World.
"Possibly we humans can exist without actually having to fight. But many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future, then what sort of future is it, and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"
What about this, http://www.playark.com/ ? I havent played this one yet, but it seems to have what you are looking for. It is a survival game but trade out zombies for dinosaurs....Zombies are getting old imho.
If at first you dont succeed, call it version 1.0
If you haven't played since Alcatraz update - the game got HARD
Get ready to get die a lot
I was a day one player, still log in from time to time. It is a fun game, but it seems like something is missing for me. It is in no way an open world, but Warframe is a great sci-fi game, I play it on PS4.
Hmm you can run/drive from top of the map in Defiance all the way to San Francisco at the bottom of the map seamlessly. That's pretty open world to me. Some areas like Alcatraz and instanced group maps are separate but most of Defiance is open world.
So you are not going to let me know why/how the game got hard?
