    ^^  This

The subreddit has 3 moderators....one of which is a Carbine employee.....

...so no, the subreddit isnt "run by NCSoft", but this is indeed being condoned by Carbine directly...

Regardless, it was done for a valid reason. The topic was being spammed over and over again with each thread devolving into a toxic pit. The same would happen here if it went too far. It's clear it got to that point on the subreddit.

I don't disagree, I was just commenting on those trying to claim that the subreddit is in no way affiliated with official channels, when in reality, it's basically run by Carbine...

Why would you have a "RIGHT" to free speech there?

Its pretty funny how kids these days think the internet is a right.  And that being able to post something on someone's website on the internet is the same as the right to free speech.  Hysterical.   I've seen other people say the same thing when they have been banned from someone's forums, that they have a right to post there as if they were standing on a street corner somewhere.

Looks like the moderator has issued an apology and has reascended on the f2p/b2p ban.

Funny, since they only "reascended" because of the release of the income reports.

    Seems convenient.

Also, it's an incredibly poor reflection on Carbine and Wildstar. That reddit should've been closed long, long ago.

Apparently that mod is a well known psychopath, with history of attention seeking and causing drama dating back years in LoL and other communities...

As if Wildstar needed this lol

It all makes sense now ... didn't realize that reddit moderator was actually FranBunny (FranBunnyFFXII on WS Forums).

Truly deranged individual from past experiences with them, and an outspoken critic/complainer on/about F2P/B2P on the WS Forums.

    Should not be a moderator.

Well since f2p and b2p are two very important aspects of how operations work,it seems they are simply NOT willing to listen.

They used the tern  "to illicit a negative response" well i have news for them,EVERY single comment can conjure up negative responses,it again proves they do not want to listen to any alternatives but just wan t people to go into reddit and say "THIS GAME IS GREAT,everyone come play".

Here is the the TRUTH,if you are not willing to listen to community, fire your community team or fire the people not willing to listen. If your game is not doing well, fire the people not willing to change or listen or both.

Sounds to me like some VERY stubborn egos who just want negativity to go away, yet lack of players proves it is not as simple as BLAMING a word but instead, the people in charge NEED to get their act together.

IMO they nailed their own coffin from day 1,they had some early success based on marketing NOT the game.I did not like any of the game's design and i really want to find a quality game to play,so it was frustrating to see yet another budget type game design trying to market itself rather than spend money on the game.

I do give them credit for a great marketing campaign but as i mentioned, the game MUST be there eventually if you hope for longevity. You can blame gamer's for negative comments all you want, that has NEVER changed my mind on a game,i play games i feel are worth playing,so it is a poor excuse by their staff.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Carbine has done pretty good about keeping a relatively-positive image up about Wildstar, with the stream of updates, new content, new features, etc. leading up to new Drops.

However, news like this in the MMORPG world is a very bad stigma to have about your game. Negative PR is literally the last thing Carbine needs for Wildstar right now.

They really need to step in and take steps to removing FranBunny from the moderation position from Reddit, and apologize about the incident.

The fact that he/she (I found a thread where someone quoted all the different sexes and sexualities this person has claimed over the years, from lesbian women, to transgender male, to gay male, basically whatever they thought would get them the most attention at that point in time, which is actually a huge slap in the face to the LGBT community), anyway, the fact that they did this seemingly without even consulting the other mods, one of whom is a Carbine employee, is prob the most baffling thing in all of this...

Well, in lighter news ... FranBunnyFFXII (girlwithruinedteeth) was removed as a moderator from Wildstar Reddit as of this morning.

    Good decision.

"Turned North Korea" is a bit extreme, but yeah classic case of forum mod who feels strongly that the game should remain sub based and using his/her power to block any community momentum for a b2p/f2p model. I have seen the same kind of thing in forums for other games.

What's your issue with North Korea (DPRK)?

Some company uses authoritarian methods to protect their interest, in a capitalistic country - South Korea, and you blame DPRK which is socialistic?

Haha, lets not confuse socialism with dictatorship. Companies (at least in theory) have to abide by laws, whereas the great leader is the law. Glad to see that mod got kicked out, if only the same could be achieved so easily with ruthless dictators.

    So many assumptions.

At least a fair amount of people actually read the content and understood it.

    1. I am not a psychopath(sociopaths), I am bipolar I. Very different things, Psychopaths don't have emotions and empathy, and often times hurt animals and people, and are usually criminals. I'm am overly emotional, empathetic person and supportive of animal rights, and I adore whales and dolphins. And I have never once been in-trouble with the law, I'm very docile and nonviolent. Psychopaths are very good at manipulating people, I suck at it, everyone knows I suck at it.

Sure you can call me fuckin nuts, whatever, but I'm bipolar. Also the question of my gender is pretty simple. Transgender people transition meaning their gender status changes over time. I'm now for all intents and purpose, socially female(and attracted to women. Women who like women are called lesbians. ) Savvy?

    2. The whole reason I put that rule up there is because people were using the topic to create trolling and shitstorms, which I had to remove a lot. The subreddit state was in a severely negative state and I was just trying to put up what I thought would have been something to stop the troll bait. Also information leaks. I believe that people leaking game info is wrong, it's against my moral standing.

    3. I was made a moderator with the approval of all the previous moderators except Lawlta, which was inacctive and doesn't play the game. Aera did not attempt to contact or consult lawlta because they were inactive. It had been 8days iirc since lawlta did anything and all he did was set flair for a few threads and disappeared again.

    proof: http://www.reddit.com/r/WildStar/comments/35v0js/meta_lets_get_this_subreddit_to_a_better_place/cr89l5x

The Carbine employee also was inactive and didn't have much to do with the thread either, they were kept onboard for CSS consulting.

    4. I was against the F2P discussion not because I don't agree with it, but because there was no substantial evidence for it, and it was starting fights.

I have long time been a supporter of F2P games and the F2P model, and correcting people and trying to convince people that F2P models are always bad. I also have said before I would rather WildStar go F2P than die.

No I didn't want WildStar switch from pay to play, I wanted it to stay P2P that much is true, but I wasn't screaming about it needing to stay P2P, I just feel like if the game goes F2P, the features I really enjoy about the game will be canibalized and torn up to make them a money sink.

I also didn't think that NCSoft/Carbine would make the mistake of putting in a ton of monitizable commodity content into the game and risk losing a fuckton of sales because of it. I took that action as a supporting speculation point for assuming the game was going to stay P2P. I was wrong. When I saw the new numbers and the official forum reaction, I removed the rule because there was no reason at all to have any restriction of the discussion.

    5. I was the only moderator working on the sub at the time. Lawlta was inactive, no-tec wasn't active either. Him coming back and overriding everything and removing me was his own powertrip. He didn't care for the sub, didnt post, doesn't even play the game, and was a mod of the MMORPG subreddit which was more than happy to defame wildstar as much as it could. Take from that as you will, but as you can see in the reference post from the other previous mod who added me to the moderators, Lawlta was so completely absent from the subreddit that he wasn't even worth contacting at all for moderation desicions.

This left me and me only to deal with the sub, by myself, no one to consult, talk to have any assistance with, so I made the move that I thought would end up being helpful.

I thought wrong, and people are using it to defame, and trash me.

In truth I love and adore WildStar, and I want nothing more than for it to succeed, did my emotions blind me? Probably so, but nothing was going to stop me from standing up for my ideals and doing what I thought was right.

Many people praised what I had done, including a BioWare employee and NCSoft's  Director of Community and Social.

I was only doing what I thought was best for WildStar.

It's probably coming from the top. Somebody got a butt chewing I bet and it just trickled down. The game probably cost a lot to make and their just not seeing the return on their investment. The bean counters want some heads cut off maybe.

Is "dictatorship" just cause you say so? Facts so far tell otherwise, the dictatorship here is the monopoly called NC Soft and DPRK has nothing to do with it.

Don't start this crap. You're just arguing to be arguing. North Korea starves its people, keeps them isolated from the rest of the world, treats them as a commodity and not as human beings. These are bad things, far worse than your petty problems stemming from a game company. Friggin' first world problems and the entitled little babies that cry about them.

'Sandbox MMO' is a PTSD trigger word for anyone who has the experience to know that anonymous players invariably use a 'sandbox' in the same manner a housecat does.

I'm sorry, but after seeing your latest post on your Facebook page, I have to say you need to stay away from anything online community related. I do not say that with malice, but out of an actual concern.

When losing a mod position on a mostly crap website equals "a huge chunk of my world fell apart", you have issues that NEED to be addressed. And honestly, online gaming boards are the LAST place anyone with a fragile state of mind needs to be. I have no doubt you meant well, regardless of how you ultimately handled the situation.

I have a brother who is bi-polar. I myself suffer from extreme anxiety and occasionally debilitating depression, which is one of many probable reasons I'm such an asshole in general to most people. So don't think I don't understand, I do.

The difference between my situation and yours, though? I can THRIVE in a hostile environment. You cannot, at least not presently.

Get help, focus on yourself, get YOU squared away, THEN decide whether you really want to deal with internet crap as a job or even a hobby.

Regardless, I do wish you the best and hope you find your way.

Ah, I assumed that he was under the impression that he was a "customer" that reddit should be trying to please.  Just like people mistakenly believe they are the customers for things like Facebook/Twitter.  The advertisers are the customers, the users are just livestock.

You either have huge personal issues that need to be addressed far away form any online communities, or you are simply looking for sympathy while feeding off of telling everyone all of your problems...

Yeah, I remember FranbunnyFFXII on Wildstar forums when it came out, HE was having issues with hardcore trolls because he was a cross-dresser that hit on a kid or something. All I remember was defending the guy and trying to calm people down and stop them from bashing him, and now this guy runs around banning people and slamming posts. Last time I will try to speak up for strangers.
