With no AAA releases in sight (Besides some eastern releases, but korean games usually turn up with hardcore cash shops.) it seems like MMORPG's are just getting kickstarted and small indie developers are taking over. This may be a good thing or bad thing. What do you guys think? (Crossing fingers for Pantheon to be good.)
This is exactly what a bunch of old school MMORPG players have been clamoring for. A bunch of games lacking features and high end graphics will get released. But then a bunch of games either lacking features or missing features promised before launch got released, so I'm not really sure if we're going to notice a lot of difference.
But I still think that what's happening isn't so much that MMORPGs are going away as much as it's that MMORPG features are going to get merged into RPGs and games in general.
