Many flight sim's where made ....

But they where all of them ...DECEIVED !

For in the shadows of Austin a master SIM was crafted! Deep out of the pockets of crowdfunding came the ONE SIM....

One SIM to rule them all, One SIM to find them,

One SIM to bring them all and in the darkness bind them!

The one sim has been made known ....

    STAR CITIZEN !

With the current release schedule will they need to employ The Necromancer so that there are people to play this "One (dimensional) Sim"?

Nonsense.  I've been playing Vendetta Online and loving it for the past 11 years.

Depends what you consider a success.

Number of subscribers and revenue define success in MMO's when it comes to companies and shareholders.

Unfortunately in that respect STO has failed to meet its expectations. Failed hard ( see "less than 150 k subs" category).

Pretty sure their expectations have changed over the years.

They must be making some profit or else they wouldn't be patching it with new content so often.

SC sounds fantastic on paper, but they've been developing for how many years now and what we currently have is really nothing like the BDSSGE we've been promised.

Eh, the original post was "what will happen with space sim after Star Citizen if it deliver everything they say?"

Come on, for a time let's think this will turn good :-)

Exactly, don't lose focus on the premise of that post, that SC delivers everything they say SC is going to be.

LOADS of them on the SC forums.

In fact, it's become a common social interaction between them to gloat how much money they've spent on SC.

A few people (10 ? 100 ?) compared to 850.000 Star Citizens. Among so many people you always have some ....

I am on the SC forums every day and such "social interactions" are rare and always coming from the same people. Some people seem to need it. To each his/her own.

As the SC forum can be read by anyone ... look for yourself.

    I have and I do.

In fact it's even become common practice to mention how much money you've spent (or how many ships you have bought) at the beginning of a post before you post critisism about the game or in any of the countless ED vs SC discussions.

Real money purchases are a very important part of the SC scene, so it's only natural that people would mention it often.

It's similar to gloating in other games about in-game accomplishments (like how many Legendaries you've made in GW2 or how much ISK you have in EvE Online etc etc).

It'll change when the PU will be released, but that's very far off still.

It seems that SC is going to be the clone of every single other Space game, not the contrary, because SC is just a bunch of mini tech demos and always will bring additional things later than anyone else and advancing slowly than any other.

Their "minimum details" approach, while good to sell expensive fancy ships and ship jpegs, won't help to keep a level of fidelity or even steal fidelity of other games, like Elite: Dangerous, which can provide to their public more meaningful updates in terms of gameplay in timely manner and in more platforms that SC ever could dream...

People seem have lost the perspective when looking to SC and checking not the game, but a document of design with a majority of things that the devs yet have no idea in how to implement and make it work... while SC faces all his problems of having a new team, a "former" developer that lost his touch since the first Wing Commander's and killed 3 companies in record time before CIG since then, and never was a good manager, and failed from the beginning on this project by chosing the worst possible engine, other more mature teams, working for much longer and with their games and feet in the ground advance .

Lemme see ... he chose the engine he got  the complete rights for, at a very modest price, which every modder is familiar with and which he was able to completely re-do in higher accuracy. And the top engineers from the creator of the engine as cherry on top of the cake.

Lemme see ... he chose some of the best producers in the industry to oversee the day to day work.

Lemme see ... his marketing team will be a textbook example at universities for years to come.

Lemme see ... he has chosen the very best people you can hire in the mocap industry  (Andy "Golum" Serkis company)

Lemme see ... he has hired some of the best NPC AI designers you find in the industry.

Lemme see ... he introduced a continent linking 24-7 workstyle utilizing various in-house studios to crowdfunding projects.

Yes ... i see it now .... totally faulty plan .....totally ...

Well if that is your understanding and standard for a University, then that sure does explain a lot of your posts.  Not sure if I should cry or laugh.

Hmmm, it's true Erillion always post supporting the game. But it's also true that some people insist in post against it. Are they part of an adversary cult then?

I understand that some people have doubts or don't trust CIG, but others say that the game made quarter billion dolars, that nothing has been delivered and another things that, or they don't know anything about the development or they're lying directly.

So amazing that al the run these unfinished and Kickstarters that go on forever peopel ignore games that are already out and able to play.

Ascent has been out quite awhile but technically 'released' a few weeks ago. HUGE universe. 270 Billion systems who knows how many trillions of planets, all able to be  explored, mapped and settled.

Pretty much one guy (and now an artist) doing the whole game. But it gets updated almost every day with something.

Pretty vanilla in terms of ships and progression but the exploring and colony building is really what its all about.

Can do 'original' domed colonies which can be done on any planet, or the newer terraforming ability worlds which makes dome unecessary and colonizing and expanding much easier.

Then of course building gates to jump long distances that would normally take mass amounts of hydrogen or skimming gas giants to get enough hydrogen to keep going. Gate building is pretty much a server effort which right now is a smallish effort of a few of the early kickstarter guys.

No PvP (yet) and combat in ships is difficult unless you throw a lot of automated guns (turrets) on it. But most guys are into the colonizing and exploring and looking for 'perfect' worlds to settle.

Either way with all the press Star Citizen gets on this site Ascent (a game already released and playable) doesnt even have a forum.

Why are you taking a random person's miscalculated sum and posting it as a reply? What does that have to do with me?

    I don't understand what you're argument is.

I was talking about Erillon's obsession with everything SC to such a degree he will constantly lie or escalate his SC claims to some unfathomable status.

Also, I'm not part of a cult, just an unhappy SC buyer.

Your quote was "a textbook example at universities for years to come". I still fail to see the verifyable proof that it is at universities and that it will be for years to come.

The forbes article you linked was written in November of 2012 and it looks like the last time they wrote anything about star citizen was in June of 2013(that I could find anyway)

The economist link doesn't work and the crowdfunding "university" has to be a joke on your end.

So again show me the verifyable proof. I will accept a textbook that is required reading at university(so along with the book list for whatever class) or professor notes talking about it and since you said for years to come I also require proof up to and including the year 2020 to cover all bases.
