incorporating to much and trouble with immersion?

When I listen to Mark Jacobs I get some of the impressions that Mortal Online developers gave me. I end up sitting there and nodding and thinking: "that sounds reasonable", to ideas for the game. But as the list of ideas they are incorporating gets longer and longer avoiding what went wrong with Mortal Online becomes harder.

It does not matter if a game has a long list of right ideas for what the game should be, if it becomes to long. Because then all the components of the game ends up getting to little attention and work from the developers and key elements like combat etc. ends up not being fun and having the right flow.

Also I think immersion for a fantasy MMO is important. And that can most easily be done by sticking to the setting. Is adding things like big funny duck statues and the eye system ("surveillance cameras") the right way to go about immersion?
