Here's the jist of Dolphingate, what is turning into the absolute biggest Kerfufle to date.

 

Trion sent out to former patrons a "return to Archeage Gift.  Most of these where a small thing,  4 RNG boxes, some  potions and scrolls to access the new Library.

 

However, many where randomly chosen to recieve the $100 Secrets Pack, AND the Cynafin Dolphin, previously only attainable in RNG Boxes.  This was bad enough.

 

However, early this morning when people found out about it, several went into live chat to complain.  Several people where then gifted the $100 secrets pack AND the Dolphin.  

Trion has made a GIANT mess of of this. The FIrst package consisting of a few items and 4 rng boxes was ok, there was very little issue over that, and it's good promotion to get people to come back to AA.  Gifting the $100 pack AND a in game mount ONLY attainable via RNG box was a Huge mistake.   Then continuing that with just giving it out to people who initially complained via Live Chat was just, WTF are they thinking.  That stopped, but it made the situation so much worse.

Why are you people still playing games from Trion Worlds? They have proven their company is poorly managed. I've said it several times and I will say it again. They need to fire everyone including the CEO.

I am seeing a whole lot of 'meh'. People are raging (and some ragequitting) because they didnt get free stuff that someone else got. I am not sure that anyone that is going to quit over this really matters.

I remember when AA was cranking out a hilarious scandal every week.  Although the quantity of them has certainly decreased, it seems the quality hasn't.  Still hilarious.

Quite a few whales (or people who claim they spent $700+ on the RNG boxes hoping for a dolphin they never got) are saying they'll quit over this.  Whales actually do matter.

 

Of course, that assumes they're telling the truth on both fronts.  *shrug*  Still, this is the type of snub that does snub whales so I'm pretty sure at least some of them are telling the truth.

maybe those people will wake the hell up now?

I just dont get peoples mentality.  I dont know how people can spend thousands or even 10s of thousands of dollars on a game.  If you are so rich you can afford to blow that kinda money then great, but then it should not matter what you get or dont get.  Countless people try to say how messed up the management of this game is, but it never sinks in.  If you want to constantly defend the idiots at Trion then go ahead but dont come boohooing when you get "screwed" over because you were warned.....

Avoid anything RNG in any type of form pretty much, just people like RNG if from lockbox to loot drop, people will blindly give support to that system as it will never go away as long people support all type of RNG.

This was also what was offered to me in my email.  Fundamentally I think AA could have been a great game.

The only email that will get me back is an email notifying me of new servers launched with a subscription based pay model without a cash shop.

Despite my issues with the developers, publishers, and the community-breaking technical/security issues, I would still sub to this game without a second's thought.

The posts on the official forums are the funniest damn things I have read in ages. It almost makes me wish I had bought the game and quit just so I could ride a dolphin around in game.

Kind of looks like the offer went to Archeum founders. I was a gold founder so whatever I spent apparently wasn't enough to warrant attention. /snubbed lol
