    I do hope so too.

But as nice looking the game seems I am hoping they are going to add some more sound effects. While walking/running in that video showed a town, only thing I heard where crickets and water. didn't get a "sound-feel" moving into a village.

To me sound is equal as important as visuals, obviously gameplay should also pair with both.

Was good seeing you can sit in a rather normal way instead of just /sit on the floor.

Well here's to hoping the game turns out good/great......

Movement sound is not so bad when its not drowned by the music I always turn down the music so it sound pretty good to me.

I mean is not dominate by far but think about it how much sound do you really make when moving plus think about a trained warrior they are pretty light on their feet hell even modern military try and make as little noise as possible when moving through hostile enviros.

You should try walking a day in a chainmail, or for that matter with full modern gear, that is a backpack full with stuff, weapons and ammunition, water and food. Did both, not super stealthy. But considering what you usually have on you in a MMO walking would be close to impossible anyways so maybe trying to bring logic is just a silly move.

Movements sounds just get annoying if they get too loud, heck after a day in chainmail I hear phantom sounds from the rings for days... Not becuase they are so loud but they are annoying no less.

As I see it should there be a slider for this type of sounds so we all can get the right amount of it without annoying other players.

I already watched beta videos and did enough homework to know this game was way over rated,i have pretty much put it off my radar completely.

If you simply want graphics and a viable game,go play FFXIV best graphic game out there and plays similar to most games with questing and dailies ect ect.

Even if you didn't know it was an Asian design, you would soon know.Backflips are just ridiculous and spam archers look so fake.Simply a nice looking game with no game play.

That video reminded me alot of Conan, which is a good thing Conan was way ahead of its time as far as graphics go.

    Agreed and does look fantastic.

    One thing...

That hat... Look, I love Christmas, it's (jingle) the most wonderful time of the year. However, I wish all MMOs would come up with their own "mirrored" holiday as it just bugs me. Would show a great amount of creativity and has been known to happen.

Yeah very pretty but WTF is it with the Santa's elf hat? Just another MMO with no lore integrity in a fantasy setting,

Probably bought it at the cash shop right next to Scream masks, Bunny suits, cat ears and blinged out crotch protectors. Yeah, I'm all over this title. NOT!

And don't know.. but somehow it does look not that fantastic.. but that's maybe the over the top running animation.. they almost kissing the ground. And yeap.. the real life influences in most MMOs destroys my immersion, too.

Hopefully the gameplay convinces, because the looks does it not.. at least for me. However, look, graphics is not my top priority anyway. Another dampener is most likely the possible far away western release.. i am not really happy with the situation for most korean MMOs that the release a few years after the korean release.

But well.. just wait and see.

Yup. There is no lore integrity in this title.  There is no creation of new lore that is logical and coherent.   They simply directly imported stuff from diffrent time and geographical real life peroids and mixed them together.    It is exactly like in ArcheAge.  Sure graphics quality is better, but coherecy and integrity wise?   Same.

Of course there is also things like:  modern "Victoria Secret" lingerie, modern emo-gothic dresses,  lot of goofy cash shop hats,   typical Asian "silly" stuff like Bird/Bear costumes  + of course skimpy plate armours and other stuff.

I know that graphics are great, but if you're looking for coherent "grounded" lore and style this game does not provide it.

It is like  all AAA mmorpgs in last 5-7 years - no consistancy and no coherency.

Best thing - they have just started as game is still in so called "pseudo-beta"   - there is already cash shop and they already started selling stuff for $$$ in it.

MMORPGs add more and more incohrenet stuff as time-pass.  So what is now in game, is just beggining.

Every video of Black Desert I see is some person soloing.

Would rather buy a console game without the cash shop.

Looks really nice. But I don't dig the moving forward when running/sprinting. Looks kinda odd. But I've seen it more in Asian games.

You know when you play too much MMO's when your partners pants have become a rare drop.

I think it's the shading that agrees with my eyes and the ambiance in the towns, they seem alive. The combat, from what I've seen, is where I may turn away. There is a lot of effects connected to it and though you are supposed to be able to turn them off, at least to some degree, we'll have to see what the end result is.

The world thus far looks and feels very natural, I'm hoping other gameplay aspects are the same. Agreed, wait game.

Korean MMO love to destroy any sense of immersion.

One thing I can say from the video is EVEN WITHOUT PLAYERS in the game the world is 100 times more alive and populated than ArcheAge was with players.

The game has great graphics and atmosphere to it, but it is a Korean MMO and they have had a tainted record for not being the most appealing to the American market and even EU.

    I am watching and waiting.

It's a self-conscious way of not taking the game too seriously. You see it in every niche hobby. You know? Those guys who have issues admitting that they enjoy the hobby because they are "serious adults" and this is for kids.

Oriental MMOs seem to institutionalize that attitude but they're not the only ones. WOW jumped that shark with choppers many years ago.

It's why I prefer the games that do take their lore and internal period consistency seriously. I have absolutely zero shame about playing fantasy RPGs. Immersion in an alternate reality period is why I play them in the first place.

I've been playing this game since the beginning of OBT and tbh, the first few weeks were simply amazing. The visuals, the action combat, the somewhat unconventional quest system, there was a myriad of stuff to do. It had quite a steep learning curve granted that I don't speak any Korean, and all I had helping me was Google Translate. Nonetheless it was exciting and I personally find it more enjoyable than some of the other Sandbox MMOs out there.

However once the dust settled after the initial few weeks, as I got more and more used to the game mechanics, the game quickly revealed its true colours. Once you hit the softcap of level 50 (which is quite easy to do), the main story quest line stops and all you have for quests are pretty much daily repeatables. Gearing wise, equipments are very easy to acquire but the challenge is to enchant them, which requires weapon/armor enchantment stones. You can get limited amount of stones from quests every day, but they are no where near enough to give you any significant enchantments because the higher you enchant, the more likely you will fail, which will destroy the stone. So in order to enchant your gears, you will need a lot of stones and the only way to get them quickly is to buy them from other players via the broker. Needless to say they ain't cheap. So what happens is you will be spending the majority of your game time farming for money to fund your enchantments. This is where the sandbox comes in. There are many ways to get money (crafting, gathering, trading, grinding mobs), but not all of them are worth doing. So people usually end up doing one or two of those things over and over again, constantly. And this is the grind many players dreaded about.

So once you've grinded your way to max enchantments on the best possible gears, there isn't much else to do. Sure there is open world pvp but the penalty for randomly killing players is huge (lowers your karma, which has several consequences such as causing you to drop items upon death), and there is no reward for doing open world pvp other than the thrill of pvp itself. As a result most players are pretty reluctant to participate in open world pvp at all. That being said, there are other forms of pvp such as sieges, guild wars etc. I've not participated in them so I can't really comment on it.

Bottomline is, the game does offer some refreshing experience but eventually the grind is very real and grinding will become a large part of your gamplay experience. Given it is still in OBT and much of the content are yet to be released, but the game so far has shown that it is lacking in end game content.

Now for the cash shop. So far the cash shop is largely cosmetic in nature, with temporary buffs and other convenient items too. None of which are really game breaking. The cosmetic items such as costumes and pets are also tradable with silver in game via the broker. Sure people can keep buying those stuff and sell for in game silver and get an economic advantage over others, but those items are really expensive, a full set of costumes costs more than $70 USD if I remembered correctly. And they don't sell for all that much in game, which makes it highly infeasible to "pay to win" in this way. So for me there is no p2w complaints and I do not see how it can be p2w for now.

I must be the only one who thinks the graphics are bad. All I saw was shadow and geometry clipping all over the place and out of focus backgrounds to save framerates. I would rather have less detail and graphics that don't suffer from all of that.

This seems to have the same issues Tera had at launch honestly.

Not much to do at endgame and difficult to run.  I like games with pretty graphics but you better believe it cuts your playerbase in small chunks, I know these games are made for Korea where almost everyone can play on a good pc but that won't help western servers.

The movement looks like it would feel bad to me. This game has always had sort of that WAR style clunkiness in every video I've seen.

This is one of the funniest posts I have read: your advice to people interested in an open world fantasy sandbox with a pvp focus, action combat, and amazing graphics is to play FF14?  Lol, I can hardly think of a game further away from Black Desert in overall design concept.

The graphics are pretty amazing by MMO standards. It's the street fighter combat and ArcheAge LP system that will sink this game.
