I think MMORPG.COM should close SWG threads. The game is dead already ffs. The original company been sold too, to boot.
So anything that is past should not be talked about anymore?

    Who decides?

Now THAT is a dangerous idea. Fascism rises again.

Pretty certain that if SWG were to magically appear overnight as it was prior to the debacle... people would play it for maybe a month tops before leaving it.  Rose colored glasses going on here... it was something then, it's certainly not something now.  People raved about vanilla WoW et al... and yet, you don't see any of those private servers with 5 million players do you?  If they had to pay, most of them would be downright empty.  Their time came and went.  It's not coming back because so much has changed since then.  That's why games that attempt to recapture the old feeling always fall flat.  Always.

Well, at least you can still play it. By now everyone knows you can still play it, right? SWG might get the award for most talked about cancelled game that you can still play.

Close the thread because your head is buried in the sand? Yaminsux probably thought this was a good video game!

How are there people still holding onto a grudge over this shit?  This is sadder than what SoE did to SWG.

I don't remember out of anger, I fondly remember. I reminisce about SWG and the lessons it provided and still provides.

I was mad that they even released it.  It started going downhill during beta.  I think it was best about 3-4 months before release. . then they started with some bad changes.  People thought testers just wanted to play for free and screamed REEEELEEEEASEE. . which I get.    Then later I ended up liking some of the later changes after hating CU etc.  There was never a perfect time for me I guess.  I did like the experience though but I doubt I will have it again.

SWG had it's good and bad points all during it's lifetime.  It had it's moments.

Neither did I. I tried it just because a couple of people in my guild were raving about it. I went right back to DAoC after a very short look.

I liked it and had a dozen friends to loved it but my pc at the time couldn't handle the lag. But I miss it at times. The profession set up and combat play always annoyed me a bit but I didn't play enough to really get into it. The thing I loved though was that there were jedi and although they were rare and hard to become it really meant something if you saw a jedi pass by. I've never seen that in today's world of "everyone" can be the best if they just level up.

I think what truly made it great during that time was that though Jedi were rare and took immense grinding JUST to become force sensitive, there were still Bounty Hunters in the Galaxy that could beat them in a 1-on-1 battle.  And there were multiple ways to kill a Jedi, from Teras Kasi to Rifleman or Pistoleer, or even 1h Stun Batons, there was no one way to dominate the Galaxy.
