Could this be the future?

We are living in a society where everything is tailor made for just about anything we desire.  You don't goto the doctor any more you go to the specialist.  The mmo world has some very picky players and I expect them to fold on any given game over 1 or 2 issues that could easily be fixed by a template/lobby/mmo type game.

Playing H1z1 and observing Life is Feudal I have seen something that might be the future of mmo gaming.  Basically a company provides a template with classes/skills/dungeons/raids/  ect ect and the players build the world and host the server.  Lets take H1Z1 for example.  Lets say you like the game but hate the pvp, so naturally someone just runs a server that doesn't allow PVP and you are now happy.  Or you dont like the class system in a certain game, and viola just skip over to the next player run server and you find that they have a completely different system.  So instead of huge player run guilds you have huge player run servers.  Which could also include those guilds depending on the setup.

Are you onto something or just on something?

Khm... Asheron's Call, player-run servers, that's the point behind the concept.

The less you care about a game explicitly being MMO, the more you can have what you want.

With MMOs it's not only the factor of whether the game has the specific game rules you want (ie this thread's topic) but also the sheer cost of creating an MMO compared with any other genre.
