Will you try Darkfall when New Trial Systems Comes out??

SkellybonesSkellybones Member UncommonPosts: 85

For those who haven't tried Darkfall and are scared to put down money and sub monthly due to bad reviews, are you willing to give Darkfall a chance when the new Trial System Roles out?

I have to say in all my gaming experience there is no game like Darkfall. Forget all about the reviews for a moment. I myself come from a FPS, RPG, MMO, RTS Background. I was never really into pvp other then counterstrike,quake2, etc... When i played MMO's i played them for the social aspects, PvE, crafting, RPG elements. I wasn't to interested in PvP in a MMORPG. Now i look at my self and i could never go back to your mainstream, average MMO. No matter how hard i try n push my self to like them i just cant anymore.

I think for those who are afraid of a open world sandbox full loot PvP game need to take my advice and try the game out. There is something for everyone to enjoy in this game. I once was like full loot PvP shit that sounds harsh i would hate loosing all my stuff.

I don't want to make this post to long but the new trial system consists of unlimited  trial time with game limitations, you can buy D.U.E.L.S for around 70k gold which give u 1 month game time or you can pay a monthly sub of 14 bucks

I suggest for those who haven't heard about this game check out YouTube videos and check out the website

What i want to know is who is going to give this game a try when the NEW TRIAL SYSTEM COMES OUT!! please reply with comments and any question you may have.

No.  Found the game too clunky, didn't care for the community and in the end it felt like a shareware title.

Grimal, if you haven't played it lately you might be surprised at the level of polish AV have (finally) achieved. personally I am on a break due to (a) addiction to HEX and (b) waiting on the alignment system but it's in my top 5 mmorpg list aND I know before long I will be back.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.

As a 2 year DF player and about 3 month DFUW player I'll probably go with a no, since I haven't really seen any major changes that would make me think otherwise of AV and their game. In fact I just heard people say AV is going back to their old ways; shrinking  the dev team, doing less patches and less communication. Now I don't know if it's true but it sounds familiar from the days that I actively followed everything about Darkfall.

Don't get me wrong, I love(ed) the world of Darkfall, it's idea and  fps combat and would still love to see it become twice the game it is today but I'll keep waiting for now I think.

And my question: How exactly do you get gimped while on trial?

^Pretty much. So not gonna happen for me either.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)

No. I played the original EU and NA launch as well and the UW launch. I've had enough disappointment from Tasos and Aventurine.

DF:UW is a pathetic attempt at a sequel to DFO.  DFO was a great game that had a plethora of bugs in it that needed to be fixed had the dev team just taken the time to actually fix them rather then AV working on UW for the last 2 years of DFO.  DF:UW is a terribad game that would only be worth trying if it went free to play forever.  A free preview for people to waste their time on the broken feat/prowess system and clunky pvp only to have to pay to continue their playing of a toon that they more then likely didn't get anywhere close to a high-end level.

DFO was a far superior game that the dev team felt the need to close.  I've heard various stories ranging from the code wasn't expandable or that AV no longer owns the rights to the code.  Either way...settling for an inferior broken game that is still in a beta stage 2.5 years later isn't worth your time or money.

I'll be trying it out, I have heard good things about this game recently.

I also want to show support to companies who put free trials on subscription based games, why there are still so many games without this feature baffles me.

    Waiting for:

    Albion Online

DFUW was a ton of fun especialy when it first launmched and everyone was trying to grind prowess, I think I played for about 6 months and eventualy the lack of players got me bored.  I dont want to fight the same 20 people every day the game just lacks population atleast it has had that problem for a very long time maybe the DUEL system has helped but the pop got very bad before I left and people are the content so without people it was just us siting in our city dueling waiting for someone to fight worse than that is running around looking for people to fight and finding noone..

No I don't think i will.  Nothing against the game, its just not what i'm looking for in a game.

No, that game had a chance...twice in 12 years! The boat came and gone.

    No.

Any game with forced PvP is a deal breaker for me, a full loot one a double deal breaker. With wife, son, full time job and college some nights I have little gaming time as it is, and even less uninterrupted game time. While I'm playing, I usually get up a lot to check on my son when he's sleeping, talk to my wife, or even just go to the bathroom and stay longer than anticipated because I got into whatever book I have there. I'd hate to have to return to a corpse and my stuff gone anytime I did that.

I guess I'm too carebear for it.

What can men do against such reckless hate?

This game has a lot going for it. I don't like the 'action' combat though and I agree it's clunky...or at least was last time I played 6 months ago.

Good to see a company sticking with subs / no cash shop and doing the F2P like it always should've been, ie: free & never ending trial with limited access to content. Warhammer Online did this too, it's a great system and I 'd like to see more games doing it, way better to reel in players than the 2 bit F2P scam, IMO.

I'm in the same boat, you can still enjoy PvP games and you don't have to be "hardcore".
