I guess people feel cool when they can post in a thread and say someone necro'd it. Maybe its the nature of the word or how its used that makes them feel special. I just want to point out that no matter how old a thread is. If it is still revelant then it is not a necro thread. The word necro refers to raising something that is dead. So if the conversation is old and dead and useless then to bring it back into the forums is considered a real necro event. Sometimes old questions need updated answers.
Just an example the game Aika has a thread from a few years ago that says is this game dead? This thread should be considered always open and available for updates so people can simply click on the thread and see what the current state of the game population is. Otherwise you end up with a bunch of threads with the same name and same question that is still valid but just needs an updated answer.
