Game Development - just a hobby with no expectations

Is that what game development is now? Is it just a hobby that developers have no expectations for and if they happen to stroke it rich then yippy they got lucky?

Sure, thats a part of the indie scene (not all) but I dont think you can paint all of Developers with that brush.

That explains why one can charge rediculous prices - there never was any expectations in the first place, even from the creator.
