The Good the Bad and the Ugly

asdarasdar Member UncommonPosts: 662

Just stirring up trouble here, and wondering what other people see as the best and worst parts of what we think this game will be.

My order for good things:
1. NO quest hubs
2. Crafted most everything
3. I like this style, vikings/brits/tuatha
4. 3 faction RvR, and I think hard lines so they can't convert
5. water and boats (I think)
6. Semi-Regular weapons, not the 10ft long kind.
7. Characters I've seen are spot on what I like. Not Cartoon, but they're not trying to hit 100% realism which usually leaves me thinking how bad it looks.
8. Subscription (Yea!)

My Bad things
1. August will likely be the first chance I get to play
2. I'm not really a PvP fan right now. I have been in the past and by Aug I might be again.
3. No Free to Play might limit population (I'm a subscription fan, but this will be a test of how many will still pay that way)

    Good

RvR with similar concepts from daoc

No annoying PVE, this time we can pvp from the get go

    Bad

Player created structures.. Just imagine the possibilities of wrong here

I think boats sucked in NF.. i really don't want that back

    Ugly

Have to wait too long for game ;) but just have to play some more daoc guess

I think one of the bigger challenges will be to please the three types of rvr players eg. zerger, 8v8 elitist and the solo’s. We don’t want separate battleground, that would ruin the magic, yet each type of player complain about the other..

As a F2P proponent, I'm always glad to play a sub based game if they think they have the fanbase to pull it off.  That and no one seems to be able to resist the urge to let players pay to win or at least pay for significant advantage.  Until companies can learn how to do F2P properly, I'm glad they don't want to do it.  It completely killed ArcheAge for me and the game had so much potential.

Good: 3 Faction PvP (everything except of 2 faction is good)

Bad: 3 Faction PvP (Hate it, when you cant attack griefing (or kill stealing) people in your own faction)

Good: Subscription based (often better community, mostly no p2w shop)

Bad: Subscription based (as someone who is studying the money and time I have is varying often. Otherwise till its released im finished with studying and will have enough money (dont know about the time then))

    Good: Crafting

Bad: Crafting (if inflation goes crazy (because of too less gold sink for 24/7 players e.g.), casuals will have a hard time to afford good gear-

Wow has a really great community.

I really hate the cash shop in BF4, TitanFall, Destiny, CoD.

Speaking of inflation, if there's no quest hubs and little PVE how is money generated? Through pvp?

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to predict good and bad anything with this game at this point. The only thing I have seen so far is they have a pretty solid engine with some cool mechanics as a base for the game. Everything else is still in the idea stage, can't really comment on anything because we don't know what will make it into the game or what will sit it out. Also they will have to tweak stuff to make it work so really no way to judge anything accept words right now.

Economy primarily. Crafters are a class and although it is stated they will have a role in pvp they will rely on combat players to obtain many of their mats from both player kills, monster items and places like the Depths. There is also going to be a bounty system. Although you can't level off of pve it will exist and there is some overarching, unrevealed story in the game that has something to do with dragons.

I am not sure on confirmed items dropped off of players other than a sliver of your own soul that is said to play roles in crafting and bounty.

    You stay sassy!

Well that's going to be interesting. I am not sure how crafters will be able to craft if they're not capable of gathering their own materials or if there are no gatherers to gather materials. Like in Eve you have miners who are providing industrials with materials.

You mentioned something about the Depths, I remember hearing awhile ago that the Depths are controlled by a faction at a given time, while other factions try to re-take it. If that's true and still stands then I would imagine this would have a great impact on the economy.

But as it stands your comment doesn't say where the money comes from. It seems that most of it will come from pve (monster kills) or pvp. If it's primarily from pvp then this would make crafters very dependent on combat players which is not a good sign.
