TRION / XLGames forced me to quit today.

BearKnightBearKnight Member CommonPosts: 461

Although a heinously silly statement for a title it is nevertheless true unfortunately. As of November 4th with the latest and "greatest" patch adding in the northern continent "Auroria" I have been unable to log into ANY of my accounts, on ANY computer. I can't even log into my friend's account (as a check to see if i'm banned for some strange reason) whom still can play (lucky him?).

Why? The simple answer is that HackerShield, XLGame's subpar & all around ineffective anti-cheating system, became bugged for more than half of the game's population on the 4th. It simply crashes and sends you to their "HackShield FAQ" page that gives yo a list of things to try in order to fix the problem.

Nada, nothing,  bumpkiss. Not a single thing in their FAQ, Support Area, Live Chat, or Support Forums have helped. I even saw posts on ArcheAge Reddit posting "fixes", of which there turned out to be 20 some-odd different errors people were running into. Alas, none of which helped me. I have literally tried EVERYTHING on all THREE of my PCs in my household. Nothing is fixing this HackShield error, of which I'm still not along after several days in resolving, and has caused me to already lose TWO large farms.

Tonight I've skyped my guild-leader and told him I'll be unable to play because of this, and due to the increasing list of lost land, and bugged patron on one account, I'll have no further reason to play losing almost all of my land in the next 2 days. I also unfortunately do not have anyone i trust enough to pass account info along to in order to log in and pay my taxes (my bestfriend and his girlfriend got banned on the 4th for swapping account infos when they too couldn't log in. They were caught by the anti-botting automated system and are still in queue to this day trying to get unbanned).

All and all, shame on me for paying the $150 package for Alpha so many months ago. The game was actually FUN to play, but after all these horrible changes brought on by XLGames the game has just spiraled out of control.

I had made a previous post about how bad this game is, but was only staying up until now because I had a very good and helpful guild (that and I'm the Military Commander, yea....you can imagine how Auroria has been going without me).

For me so far ArcheAge has been a "Perfect Storm" between TRION's ineptitude, inexperience with sandboxes, and inability to plan out server Architectures combined with XLGame's horrible mismanagement of resources and failure at overall game design and anti-cheating measures.

Shame on me :(

we are many to abandon the game. much bot. many problems. and what everyone expected "Auroria" was shit. any gm controlling the bot taking ground.

We'll have to wait out longer to see if the game grows more .and people "trion" fix the real problems. because all they do is get more stuff for the game.

I believe the Hackshield issue existed during alpha and beta... they eventually resolved it for most, but not all.  It apparently was reintroduced with the patch... which makes sense because some other party is delivering the content to us and that same party is the only one that can fix such issues.  Now that the issues have been identified, expect patches to undo the problem once again.

but the problem continue to add more things or more ground and do not fix the problem. why not put a limit on account of land or houses to do that down the number of players who are bored of waiting for a free spot

Only XLGames can fix the problem and since they haven't changed how it works in Korea or Russia, the likelihood that they will change it for the US is nil.  This is they way it is and will continue to be.

Also most of the games that have come in this last time them out in a hurry and do not fix the problems.

If you know one please tell me relatively desente game to play. So I'm already looking until they fix the problems of AA

It was a great game back in alpha.

Poor decisions, hacks, bot infestation, removal of sandbox elements, mass overcrowding, and decisions based on blatent cashshop money grabs are destroying the game fast though.

I feel bad for anyone who did not play it during the original alpha, game was a blast.

The game literally went from a gold nugget to a giant pile of shit in less than 3 months, thanks to some stupid cash shop items and a worthless hack prevention program.

EDIT: Apparently F2P cash shop games must be extremely profitable because this game would have been 1000% better as a subscription only game.

Im sure a few hunderes whales with a fat credit card give more profit then half million subs. Thats why we see so many companys going this route, sadlly but money allways talk higher....

AA only with sub without f2p option and no CS, what a amazing dream.

Do you have Glyph configured to close down after a game launches?  If so, this will cause you to go to the FAQ page every single time you load AA.  Set it to stay open.

But Jabas, you already pay a subscription, let's assume you don't use the cash shop... how exactly is subscription only and no cash shop really going to change the game?  You're still tied to LP.  You're still tied to RNG.  You're still going to have the same land issues.  PVP will still be zerg fests.  The servers will still be unbalanced.

Let's get real... on a fundamental level, the game itself is what is driving people away, not the bots, not hack shield, and not the cash shop.  You take away F2P, you lose more players than you will bots.  You won't gain land because F2Pers don't own land, they certainly don't spend a dime on the cash shop...

I think everyone needs to do a reality check... if you don't like the game now, you won't like it if it were sub only... the elements that people seem to despise the most is what the game really is all about.

Damn this game seem to go down the trash quick. Shame as it is the only triple A MMO which is not following the standard ThemePark formula.

Check for HackerShield fixes for other games. Sometimes it boils down to a similar fix.

Secondly, ask Trion support to extend your land ownership? Maybe? idk. I know land's a big deal though.

^ This. After the Auroria patch was applied neither of the two desktops and one laptop I have installed Archeage on could connect beyond the character selection screen. However, Trion said on the forums that they realised there was a problem and XLGames were working on a patch. So, instead of bitching on the forums, I just did the sensible thing and went and played something else until the next day. After the XL patch, only one PC still had the problem with redirecting to the hackshield site and that was instantly fixed by changing the glyph settings to not close after launch.

Whatever problems the OP is having, they should either have been fixed by now by the most recent patches or else there are plenty of instructions on the site for resolving hackshield problems. At a push, you can simply uninstall Glyph completely and reinstall the latest version.

As for losing property after 2 days, that;s absolute hogwash. Anyone that plays knows you have two WEEKS not two days after missing a tax payment before the property gets demolished.

yeah hackshield is worthless.  From the time I've played, I've seen at least 1 hacker everytime I played lol.

I didn't leave because of it being F2P or the cash shop. I left because of certain cash shop items and their hackshield being absolutely worthless. F2P games can do well, everyone knows that, but AA is a P2W PvP game so that only accentuates the problem, which attracts even more BOTs and gold farmers. It's like trying to fend off a swarm of honey bees by covering your game with nectar.

I've stated this before, that AA played better during Alpha then it does now. If that doesn't tell you how @#%!ed up the cash shop made this game, I don't know what does.

So basically what you want is your own private server with limited population so that you don't have to compete with anyone else.

Alpha is hardly a fair assessment of what the game is going to be like once it goes live.  Open Beta is the first true test, but even that isn't going to have the kinds of numbers as live will.

The cash shop didn't do this... the game design did... everything that has gone wrong and will go wrong is in the code right from the very beginning.

Like I said, cash shop has little to do with it, but it sure is an easy scapegoat to point fingers at.

Cash shop doesn't balance servers.  Cash shop doesn't sell land.  Cash shop doesn't give you unlimited anything.  At the core of it, it is the game that is the issue.  Number one reason why people were infuriated with the latest patch drop was the fact that they couldn't log in to get land.  To get land.  Land that the majority would never even have gotten EVEN if there were no issues and no bots.  Reality check folks.  Reality check.  Game is okay if I get land... sucks if I don't.  That's a game design issue, not a cash shop one.

ArcheAge is still the best mmorpg release this last years, i didnt change my mind about that.

But that doesnt mean i like everthing or agree with some changes from pre-1.0 to current 1.2 west version.

One thing i dont like is Trion CS, i played in RU and CS was miles away more "light" (maybe now is equal, have no idea).

If AA close the CS and live only from subs, ofc alot of changes in-game feature needed adaptation.

Im not a blind AA fan that dont see that some features/rules were created/changed to promote CS stuff. I dont like CS never liked, i like exclusive P2P  or B2P but AA is the only mmorpg i want to play atm so i just need to adapt myself, and even without use CS stuff directly (buy stuff in AH from others) and pay the monthly fee i keep my level of fun high enouph to keep playing and ignore the "bad" part.

How does it happen?  Kinda simple, really.

In real life, take a sandbox.  Place a couple of toys in it.  Now place a small amount of children in it.

They all have fun with their toys playing in the sandbox, right?

Now place 5x more kids in it.  Keep the amount of toys and the size of the box the same.

What do you think will happen?

(of course, if we REALLY want to make it analogous to Archeage, we could also start selling the kids things for real money that improve the quality of their tools that they can use to beat up other kids with, as well as the sand box periodically exploding every once in a while, but whatever)
