Some things to consider about Swordsman

jaxomejaxome Member UncommonPosts: 76

Anyone else see the most recent episode of South Park, Freemium isnt Free. Basically it showed how F2P cash shops work, it even had people run around recruiting people for the game. It talked about how the game creates triggers to get people to spend money. I couldnt help but think about Swordsman Broadcasts when someone gets something cool from a Loot box. Then I couldnt help but think, it is always the same handful of people getting stuff from those boxes...

I am sure some of them are actual players, I am also sure many of them are people who work for PWE, it is no secret they play the game, "incognito". wouldnt it make sense to have them get rewards from the chests, so other people see it, and then go buy chests trying to win themselves. Everything about this game is made to make you spend money, from the way events are made to gems to lost arts.

Id make posts like this on Swordsman Forums and try to talk about how the P2W in this game could be addressed... They were edited/deleted... They were actually constructive, I really do like this game, it is an awesome game. So basically if you want a review for this game it is simple, It is an amazing kung fu themed game, kinda like a sandpark but mostly just a themepark grinder. Combat in instances/ pvp is fun and engaging, everything else you might as well use the bot system the game gives you cause it is a boring pointless grind. This game has a die hard cash shop following, people who are addicts and want happy brain chemicals to release when they open a chest and get something kinda cool. It doesnt happen often with the screwed up gambling like cash shop in this game... encouraging the addicts to spend more and more... If you are one of those people, you will fit in fine... The game also has a loyal community of people who want the game to be better and more fun, they try to post on forums and keep the game going, everyday they are less and less... Maybe some day if PWE stops being dumb and greedy it will be the great game it could be instead of something that makes me want to play age of wushu... imagine that lol wanting to play a snail game for less cash shop crap

It's the same handful of players likely because whales aren't that numerous.  IIRC, the statistics given by most F2P companies when they bothered to mention it was 5% of the game's population pays more than the other 95% or something like that.

So when Joe Whale and Bob Whale spend $500+ on random cash boxes, of course their names will be the ones that come up time and time again.

I've played several F2P games where I was in the whale crowd and knew all the other whales by in-game name who have been playing for months.  Yes, it was always the same people who got those broadcast messages.  That's because it was always those same people spending hundreds upon hundreds of dollars on those boxes, not because of any "employee" shenanigans (unless those were employees masquerading as whales... for months)

And yes, broadcasts are a typical F2P strategy to try to get others to buy RNG boxes. They don't need employees to open those boxes to create those broadcasts, though.  There are more than enough "legitimate" whales to do that for them.

No reason to have employees log into the game and loot boxes? How about specifically because it will trigger the other whales, just like casinos and drug dealers and other people who make money by taking advantage of addicts. I am not saying all of them are, or even many of them are, but I would be surprised if a few of them were not company employees.

My main point really is though that this game has a broken p2w model pretending to be a f2p game, this game has really cool features, but absent a player base it is more or less a gambling chat room for people who use the cash shop.... It is tragic this game is managed by a company that instead of making its players feel appreciated and valued, instead makes them think the company would do crazy things to get money and like they are being taken advantage of...

Ive spent my share of money in this game, I know the psychology they use to make this game profitable, it is wrong, and they are taking advantage of people lol they are creating a system they know addicts can not resist and excusing themselves from any responsibility, I want game companies to make games that are fun, not games made to be fun enough to get money out of 5% of players while crushing the moral of the other 95%

Im willing to spend 100.00 on a game a month, but a week, or in the case of some of the "cash shoppers" in this game, an hour? Honestly 100.00 a month is unreasonable but at the rate these guys are pulling loot from boxes, and doing it every other night...

Except, like like you said yourself: Casinos. They don't need fake whales because people will do it all on their own. There's no need.

Well op i have a firm stance of NEVER being too careful and never trust anyone.I have been around a LONG time, played all the early games and newer games,i have seen some obvious corrupt activity and some hidden that was easy to figure out.

We will of course never know the truth behind the scenes but there re circumstances out there right now that are grossly dubious in their intent.Wiz 101 a game basically for kids is maybe one of the worst.Unlike other games going free with cash shop W101 asks for a subscription on top of a big time pushed cash shop. Then they have these chests that players can spend real money on and what they dont tell you is totally misleading.MOST of those chests offer nothing of value and if you happen to find one after spending lots of cash the odds of a good drop is VERY low,i would say in around the 1% area. That type of system is NOT fair in any way shape or form.Of course we would hear their side of the story, nobody is forcing you, well in a indirect way YES you are because you give the assumption there is a FAIR chance and well over and above the countless days it might take to get an actual drop in game which by first hand knowledge is again VERY low, like about 1%.

My point is not to bash on just Kings Isle but a LOT of developers are pulling this rip off syndrome on players.

You see there is a sort of ethics code within a LOT of players. That is we feel ok they let us in for free ,if we actually like the game we might endeavor to spend a few bucks, seems fair right, both sides are happy. However using the example as i did in w101 how is that FAIR if the player base are KIND enough and FAIR enough to support your game and you turn around and shit on them or abuse them.

Another example was SOE tcg game similar to Hearthstone. After they got players to spend an enormous amount of cash they shut the doors ...wtf !.They COULD have been nice and left it open for players to use their bandwidth and play some games among each other, but nope they as i said shit on the player base.Point is they were very quick to take your money via cash shop but not willing to give back fair value but a slap in the face.So do NOT trust any of these develoepers, they put that Georgeson FAKE smile on but couldnt give two shits bout you who make them money.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Funny, Age of Wushu was hands down amazing and innovative. I want to play that game all the time, but then I remember... SNAIL GAMES!!!! LOL..

For Swordsman 2.0 you could go try to play the latest and greatest piece of shit Revelation Online. Its literally a carbon copy of this game + wings.

Dont worry how ever, you wont be satisfied, RO is a giant bag of smelly sh*t as well.
