This is the "in engine" versus "in game" argument. The artwork is pretty. It's not yet in the tech demo, nor will it be for some time. You're going to find it increasingly difficult, around here, to impress people with concept art and 3d rendering if it's not in, what you call, "alpha". You should be showing jpegs of tomato people if you want to give an honest portrayal of the current state.

There have been plenty of times in the past where developers show off "ingame assets" only for those things to never appear in a completed game.
The Jpeg joke is just that, a quick meme meant to point out that simple fact above. The fact that you and shades bunny and the rest of the SC defense brigade always hold so literally to it simply to shout down the critics is the reason they continue to employ it.
