Earth & Beyond was canned a month after release.  I thought it was a pretty fun game too.

EnB ran for two years. Sep 2002 to Sep 2004.

Factions was a good MMO in beta, Heaven Vs hell theme, good skill leveling system, cool zones.

But their funds ran out and unable to release the game

I'm surprised WoD wasn't listed because it's so fresh in everyones memory and a game many here were looking forward to. The age of reckoning from 38 studio is really the only one I was disappointed in that I never got to play. The single player game was fun..and long, something you don't see very often anymore ( 12 hrs of play time is not a full game! )

It had so many positives going for it, and to have it fail because the company was pretty much just mismanaged is a real shame.

Anyone else here that remembers SEED ??

I was in the beta and was looking forward to playing it.  However during beta they announced that their backers "backed" out.  The game was set in a habitat that needed repairs and the players were to work together to keep it going.  Now that I think about it the game was probably doomed from the start.  Even if it released I don't think todays MMO players would work together even if thier lives depended on it.

I am surprised you didn't mention project Copernicus since it is rather famous in this regard.

Oh man WISH was awesome!  I was in the beta and the game felt like it had lots of potential.  What ever happened to Project Wish?

Fury Online.... a PVP based MMO that never came out of beta cancelled due to lack of players.

They had a mass of technical and financial issues with it. I am also sure they had political strife from within as well. I seriously wish (heh see what I did there?) that someone would pickup WISH and continue with it. Re-write the backend and whatnot but I miss playing that game a lot.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find ANYONE particularly interested in that trio over the ones she listed. :)

    Craft of Gods, maybe, though.

Greed Monger was a joke, but Dark and Light was one of the biggest hyped titles at its time.  Craft of Gods was a great game on paper, but failed miserably in execution, and I dont think very many even knew of its existence.

another game that didnt get much hype was Dawntide, a completely open world sandbox type game

also that Roman game that I cant remember the name of

MEO I followed for a long time.one major issue that killed it was it did not have the correct licence and they were in negotiations for ages and it broke down.

I did a little research a while back and Dark and light sorta is not dead... its changed to a company called SnailGames and has been renamed Savage horizon. No idea if and when it will ever be released under that name but if it is ill be looking forward to it.

I will never forgive Turbine for what they did to Middle Earth Online (different from the Sierra project. Turbine won a legal battle with Tolkien Enterprise for sole control of the project and redid it all at the last minute to convert it from sandbox to casual WoW clone)

They basically NGE'd MEO in beta and fucked over their whole community.

Not sure why you would want Black Isle to make Fallout Online. It's like wishing J. K. Rowling would have directed the Harry Potter movies.

    Dragon Empires

Original Shadowbane before the changes and release.

    Hero's Journey
