ES Solo/Co-Op ?

VoiidiinVoiidiin Member Posts: 817

So i regret my inability to continue playing TESO, but there were just to many drawbacks to keep me coming back and before i un-subbed i struggled to even want to be playing.

That said i was thinking to myself, "Why can't they just make a ES game with Co-Op ?"

Thats really all i wanted was a chance to play Skyrim, Oblivion, even Morrowind with a friend or 2. I just do not understand why Bethesda/Zeni has flatout refused to even explore this option. I think it would have been a little easier to implement then going whole hog and making and MMO first.

So i am curious if anyone else agrees that the ES universe would have been better off with Elder Scrolls 6 instead of TESO, but included a multiplayer option... say 4-8 players tops...  hell even 1-2 would be good.

You will one day get your wish, so many 'solo' games now feature a strong multiplayer element. But until then ESO simply has the market cornered and its a fine game so I am not holding my breath for that day to arrive.

Enjoying ESO as is and still feel Zenimax did a great job placing the ES universe into a MMORPG with still lots of work to continue doing but also hoping to see another singleplayer ES game aswell because I understand what it is what I like in it's singleplayer games and knowing some thing simply will or can not work in a MMORPG and will be different.

Also hoping they will add co-op to the singleplayer game and also multiplayer, since many people want endgame, multiplayer games mostly provide that exact same gameplay.

People might want to take a look at single/multiplayer games, often with it's multiplayer campaign graphics are dowgraded, most of the things possible in it's singleplayer campaign are not possible in multiplayer. And that's just with 8/16/32 vs players. Any many developers into singleplayer games don't even touch the online component.

An mmo which discourages, or actively prevents grouping is a bit of a silly design choice imo.

Yep, when it comes down to it, ESO with the ability to more easily group up and play with friends would have propelled it to greatness. Mentoring, ability to run dungeons with other factions, etc. The same game world for all factions is important too; It is so strange to me they did not include this and have 3 parallel dimensions of Tamriel...

Now Playing: Bless / Summoners War
Looking forward to: Crowfall / Lost Ark / Black Desert Mobile

There are definite problems for grouping.  Some quests are meant to be solo'ed.  I believe those are mostly guild quests from mage or fighter ,and the main quest.  I believe any of the other quests you can group up, although its easy to have already completed some quests and not others that someone else has done.  Also faction does play a factor in who you group with doing normal questing.

Another few options 1) doing group dungeons that are available at 12th level and onward.  These dungeons allow any of the 3 factions to do the dungeons.  you first must complete your own faction and then can go do the other ones in other factions.  you can reach these by using the group function, although this function generally is a random group up of people wantign to to the dungeon you picked.

                                         2)  grouping up and doing public dungeons.  These dungeons will allow anyone in, but you can only do public dungeons in your faction.  I don't believe you can do other factions public dungeons.

                                          3)  PVP in Cyrodel.  This is pretty much a group activity, the more the better.

In conclusion, I'm not sure how you would do this game differently to make grouping easier.  Making it more grouping friendly would be a plus.

Are you serious? Has the "market cornered"?  That is absolutely laughable.  There are strong rumors that the game will go f2p within the year and apparently, according to you, has the market cornered.  WOW.

What other ES MMOs are out there? I think you are expanding the breadth of my statement. TESO is the only ES MMO, I am not saying TESO is the best MMO ever made, but I would put it in my top ten.

I would not be surprised if Todd Howard's team is strong armed into putting coop/multiplayer into his next Elder Scrolls game.  Personally I don't have a problem with that as long as the multiplayer isn't forced.   Either way we probably wont see another ES game for at least another 2 years.

fanboyest answer in this whole thread.

And no, fanboy is not a compliment.

If a broken game is the best game for you then you are part of the problem, but hey, its your preference. Nothing wrong with that. But please spcify that your post is only your personal opinion. Nothing else. Your opinion doesnt make other games worst than a broken game.

I honestly thought TES 6 would probably have co-op. However I think Todd Howard is really into creating solo RPG experiences rather than co-op play..

    Quote from Todd:

"It feels more real to me when I'm the hero and it's crafted for that. A community aspect to it, I recognize a lot of people would want that in a game like this, but it changes the flavor for me."

    That's with regard to MMOs.

However would it drastically change the flavor designing the game with co-op in mind also?

An interesting side-question is what exactly are/will be the plans for TES 6. Right now, the rumors seem to be that Bethesda is next going to do a Fallout sequel, and that gives them some breathing room, like maybe a year before they have to do any hard commitments to starting a TES sequel development.

If TESO had utterly flopped, or been wildly successful (say, 2+ mil subs), then it might have had little impact on the next TES. But I have a feeling that right now, it's in the middle, or even lower-middle, of that assessment. And that means that a TES sequel--particularly one with MP co-op--would very likely dig deep into the subs of TESO, maybe even to the point of making it unsustainable. My thought is that if you're paying 2.5-3x the cost of a new TES per year, and if that new game gives the TES fan more of "what they wanted" (if MP co-op is really what that was), then they'll drop TESO if they are not extremely happy. And if they are extremely happy by then (and others are too), would that hurt the prospects of a TES 6 in a reverse fashion?

So the question is "what are the demographics of the current userbase of TESO"? Is there an uneven ratio of TES fan/MMO rookie (or maybe even MMO vet, if they like the SP TES more than the MMO) to MMO-vet?

I like both for different reasons, love the singleplayer games because so much more can be done in regards of being the only player in the world. the MMORPG because of the things not possible in the singleplayer games.

While I am a one MMORPG at a time player I do mix it up with singleplayer games very often.

So in the end very much looking forward to a new singleplayer (maybe co-op) ES game.

Till then still enjoying ESO allot....
