Source - June 22, 2014 With Suh-Won Choi - Head of Game Design

Q: How content are you with the results of the 2nd CBT? What game aspects are in need of changes/improvements?
A: After the 2nd CBT we are mainly working on the housing feature, crafting and class balancing, especially in PvP. There was a lot of discussion regarding PvP and it is still work in progress. Results of the 2nd CBT gave us a lot of information, mostly the feedback was PvP related, which strongly helps us with it’s improvement.

Q: Will there be changes in the game’s release schedule due to the results and player suggestions from the 2nd CBT?
A: We are doing everything to release the game as soon as possible. Delays may occur, but we are aiming to have the project ready for OBT no later than the end of the year in Korea.

Q: Will the 3rd CBT be held at the end of summer?
A: We are uncertain but that is what we are planning.

Q: The OBT is getting closer, but a lot of the features and some classes are still hidden.
A: We are not allowed to give details but we can assure you that the 3rd CBT will reveal many more game aspects for you to look forward to.

Q: What game content do you plan to spend more time on after the game’s release? What’s the end date for development of the game?
A: It’s hard to say. We used to mainly concentrate on the PvE aspect of the game, but now we are also working on the social feature. We've split the work 50:50 between PvE and the social. We are also taking into consideration PvP balance due to the feedback on it from the 2nd CBT. After the game’s release we are planning to make monthly announcements, but this should be discussed with the developers. In addition we plan on having monthly and quarterly content updates, whether its a large update for classes or content patch, or a small update on content fix.

Q: Last year you met with Microsoft and Sony corporations and discussed the possibility of a console version of the game. Have you already started working on a console version or are you currently only concentrating on the PC version?
A: It has not been decided yet, but we are discussing the possibility of it’s console version for the next generation consoles and we would really like to introduce the game to console users. Again, the topic is still under discussion, but it will be announced when a final decision has been made.

Q: Which console would you prefer?
A: We cannot currently give an answer.

Q: Smartphone applications which allow you to access some game features are gaining more and more popularity. Do you plan to create such an application for Black Desert?
A: We have looked into offers which would allow you to view the map of Black Desert or the possibility to put your items up for sale or similar options. But that is in the phase of planning, it is hard to say what the result would be. We constantly say that we are looking into the possibilities of different functions, discussing them in the inner circle, and we truly would like to realize them, but it all depends if we have the time and the resources to do it. So yes, we plan on making a application.

Q: The Korean, Russian and Japanese publishers have already been decided. Are there any news regarding the Euro or NA region publishers?
A: We are still negotiating with a few European and NA publishers and the final decisions have almost been made. An official announcement will soon be posted, possibly in July but if not then certainly in the following months.

Q: Is it a well known publisher or some new company?
A: No comment, can not inform you of this yet.

Q: When can we expect any new announcements? There has been little to no activity on your social media sites and facebook has been oddly quiet – our community is starting to feel lonely.
A: I would like to apologize for the lack of activity. After the 2nd CBT ended we realized how much work needs to be done to balancing, so we have been concentrating all our attention to improving the game based off or the 2nd CBT’s results. We will make an announcement of future plans once the main aspects have been improved.

Q: What is the framework that all publishers have to follow regarding game’s system(?)?
A: We would like to show full support to our publishers by implementing any requests which do not involve making changes in the main system*. Localizers understand their regions market peculiarities better than us so we trust in their experience. It is in our interests to listen to the publishers suggestions to modify the content for the particular market so that the project would be long-lasting.

*Graphical changes such as costume appearances or monster models are ok, but to make changes in the main system(?) for new features is more difficult, so such will be picked carefully
