Hello there.
I played ESO's betas. I, quite frankly, was a bit disappointed by the ease of PvE and the mindlessness of some of the gameplay (notably the starter area). However, I've been checking back once and a while. I've noticed they have added a (seemingly) large amount of content and have been working hard at squishing bugs and improving the player's experience. With this said, I have a few questions.
How is the population still? I heard megaservers were included in the most recent patch. Thoughts here?
I wish to play a MMO with significant and meaningful PvP. I know Cyrodiil is an open zone with PvE/PvP factors. I do not love the idea that you're leveled up to 50 automatically (like GW2) but I love playing in open world PvP settings. How is the gameplay in this giant zone?
How difficult is PvE?
Are the dungeons really as bad as this review indicates?
How is the economy?
If there is anything else you'd want to tell me about the game to convince me to buy or not to, you're free to add that, too.
Thank you!

I have never seen it as my job to convince anyone to buy anything, I just post here to balance the negative nonsense that gets posted about ESO. One thing I would say though, a more recent review would be a better guide. Two months ago is old when it comes to a newly launched MMO. But for that you may have a while to wait for one of those post launch reviews MMORPG.com do.
It's a godd game... especially now 3 months later after they have made a lot of tweaks and improvements ro all the silly glitches they had at release.
it's really 2 games in one. The PVE is quest / story based... some think too much so, but the quests and stories are interesting the writing is top notch and very well voice-acted.
IMHO, there is still a lot of room to improve the leveling process - especially post-50 -- since it's too heavily biased in favor of leveling through questing at the moment. PVP, repeated dungeoneering and even grinding have to be brought up to par with questing as alternate advancement methods.
PVP is a different game and it's a lot of fun. Combat doesn't just happen at keeps in large groups. There is a mix of large set-piece and smaller fluid fights with room even for 1 on 1 if you pick your spots or are off the beaten path questing or going after shards.

Thanks for the thoughts. This is really helpful.
I heard that classes can perform multiple roles (anyone can tank/dps/cc/heal). Is it like GW2 where everyone does everything and therefore it's boring (imho), or do you have to choose one and stick with it, making the options available but still having people choose roles?
Thanks!

No. It's more standard trinity based than GW2. It is more fluid though in that tanks can't really hold aggro on everything and even the first bosses have mechaniics where they will go after random players. Everyone has to be ready to dodge and block at any time but the healers heal and the tank tanks... think something between WOW and GW2.
And although everyone can heal (by using a healing staff which has pretty well the full healing toolkit with its abilities you can learn) a templar is the best healer. It's not quite so easy for any class to build for tanking and Dragonknights have the best toolset for doing so.
Also... from 1-50 it's hard to have enough ability points to train skills for 2 or 3 different roles. Most people focus on one of the three and may later add oter skills for other roles. The exception to that is DPS... every healer and tank can quickly switch to DPS mode... basically 1-50 you can be pure DPS, Healer / DPS or Tank / DPS. And it does take switching abilities in and out and that can only be done out of combat.

MarleVVLL here's the deal:
1. Don't believe anyone who says the game is a God Game and only says good things
2. Don't believe anyone who has only bad things to say
Now find peoples thoughts who have both good and bad things to say and you pretty much have a good look at the game.
I'd just point out that those in the review are not the traditional dungeons you'd expect from a usual MMO, they're just extra caves and interiors in the areas.
The actual dungeons are all differently themed with a series of bosses and some optional mini bosses in some of em.
Also the megaserver was in from day 1 as far as I know, its not a recent addition. If there was just 1000 players on the game it would feel full.
Since I'm a solo'er and not following any build guide the PVE was tough in regards to occasional quest bosses and multiple enemies above my level. Dungeons wiped my pug groups a few times but got through them all eventually. Not the hardest of the hardcore of a game for sure. Not tried Veteran group content at all.
Thanks for the helpful replies.
I hear grouping is a mess; phasing keeps people from working together and outside of dungeons, it's a soloers game.
1) Is this true?
2) Should there be a caveat to this? I.e., is this a generalization and not fully accurate?
3) Are the devs aware of this and is there evidence that they're working to adjust it?
Thanks!
