    For me so far:

    Con:

    - Races faction lock.

    - Weak guild system. Should had a more deep rank system to organize permissions.

    Just ok:

    - Combat

    - Questing

    - Char creating

    Pros:

    - Everthing else.

    PVP is lackluster

    -Heavily Gear dependant

-Tab targeting + RNG make certain builds/classes viable and some worthless

-Non rewarding PVP outside of Arena (excluding trade pack farming)

Otherwise a great game, I really wanted some good PVP but this isn't where to get it

if the many zergs were spread between factions on the alpha server pvp would probably be more interesting as it stands the west have to curl up in a ball during wartime in halcyona who knew everyone was a furry.

that said I feel like once we have servers with some semblance of faction balance and not 4x overladen the game will make more sense

3 farming systems as I see it. Hard core  farming with the 16 x 16 plots, aqua farming and then casual farming  for landscaping using decorative shrubs and trees or a littl eherb garden for casual Alchemy/cooking on housing plots and 8 x 8  plot you get from questing. Game has been out for 4 years in Asia and with the labor point system and the fact that only subscribers can farm the professional 24 hour a day farmers will have a rough go of it.

ArcheAge is an MMORPG developed by Korean developer Jake Song (former developer of Lineage) and his development company, XL Games. The game was released in Korea on January 15, 2013 and has also had aclosed beta in China. ArcheAge is described as a "sandpark" MMORPG, which the developers say is a hybrid of the open content style of a "sandbox" game, and the more structured play experience of a "themepark" game.

    Pros:

    -  Farming system makes gathering interesting.

    -  Player housing.

    -  Class system is amazing.  Not only is there a lot of different viable class combinations, but the combo system makes it so different builds all play differently, even if they share a lot of abilities.

    -  You can switch your build all the time for a (in-game gold) fee.

    -  Ships and naval combat.

    -  You can compose and sell your own music.

    -  Open world PvP keeps things interesting.

    -  Visuals are really pretty IMO.  The water looks awesome.

    -  Trading and pirating.

    -  Crime and jury system.

    -  The game gives you goals (getting better gear, houses, castles, ships, etc.) but doesn't force you into one specific method of obtaining them...so it doesn't feel like a grind.

    -  Physics...there are certain things in the game affected by the physics engine, like the harpoons on ships.  The results are sometimes hilarious :).

    -  Lots of different things to do all the time.  I never feel like I'm stuck doing just one thing, there are tons of different activities in this game and all of them seem to be viable.

    Cons:

    -  The PvP seems VERY CC-heavy.  There are tons of stuns and other CC, but very few stun breaks in the game.  This means that a lot of time the winner of a fight is whoever hits first, because the other guy will be stunlocked to death.

    -  There is a lot of "unethical" PvP that goes on where level 50's will spawn camp lowbies at their spawn point, and just sit in stealth until they leave so they can kill them.  Worse still, if the 50's are opposite faction, they aren't penalized for this, and may even be rewarded.

    -  I'm guessing that the quests are bad.  I honestly don't know because I don't read them lol...I just click accept and follow the map marker.  To me, ANY quest is bad...so yeah lol.  Thankfully, you can also level by grinding, crafting, farming, fishing etc...

Are you team Azeroth, team Tyria, or team Jacob?

    PROS

    -Solid and Fun class design

    -Very Deep crafting

    -Great graphics

    -Tons of world bosses

-Trading, forming alliances, sieges, sandbox elements are all great.

    -Large scale/naval pvp is epic

    -Great Mount/Pet system

    -Plenty of time investments

    -F2P and not actually P2W

    CONS

-Quest grind can get boring at times

-No pvp until around level 30

-Alpha server is flooded so protected land space is limited

I'm going to leave out combat because everyone's review of combat is actually just their opinion. I think the combat is very fun and polished, the combo system is quite engaging.  Yea it's tab target, and I'm ok with that.

The thing I like about the questing system is the choice of when you turn it it.

'Farm 10 rat asses' - You can either get 2 and turn it in for less reward, or get 15 and overachieve the quest.  So if you don't like the quests, which are pretty much the same MMO quests in every game, atleast you don't have to put as much time into it.

    Pros:
-Very open world with minimal invisible walls
    -Ships are very cool
-Naval combat is fresh and fun
-Trade runs with risk vs reward
-Farming/housing system is more in depth than many other games
-Gliders work nice with all the other in game systems
-Complex class system that offers many builds with total customization. There are some cookie cutter builds but the freedom for 100+ classes is nice.
-1 character can level every class
    -Environment can be interacted with
-Crafted gear is actually very good/possibly best end game gear
-Open world pvp with war/peaceful/neutral zones
-Leveling from purely crafting is easily possible (at lvl 50 I have gotten at least 20 levels from crafting/fishing/gathering without really trying)
-Under water exploration of ship wrecks, lava rivers, coral reefs
-Large ocean to explore with hidden islands
-Player ran economy actually works well with the trade/craft system
    -Water looks fantastic
-More realistic environment/graphics than games like Wildstar, WoW, and Tera.
-Guilds actually matter. If you want to experience every aspect of the game then you should join a guild.
-Pirate system basically creates a 3rd faction with their own (small) island.
-Personal favorite but I really enjoy the armor and weapon models.
-Fluid controls was a big thing for me, it was one of the reasons I played WoW so long, the game feels good to play with good reaction time and character animations.
-All crafts compliment each other which is very good for the economy.

    Neutral:
-Combat is your basic tab targeting with some skills having certain hit boxes but it isn't worse than any other game with the same system.
-Graphics aren't as good as they looked back when this game was announced
-Arenas, battle grounds, ect. Take it or leave it I don't really care too much either way
-You level fairly quickly without a whole lot of work
-No innovation on questing other than the "overachieving" system

    Cons:
-Quests aren't very interesting at all (I guess they figured no one reads them anyway)
-Open world PvP also a con if you don't like PvP. You can be camped for a long time and seeing as how the enemy faction + your faction can kill you, you have to watch your back even more than normal.
-As it stands ranged classes are pretty OP in PvP.
    -CC based PvP.

This is just a list I compiled and I am sure I missed a lot of stuff but I figure other people have hit the key points. I keep seeing people say PvP is gear based and I just haven't found that to be true as I am sitting in a lot of lvl 44/50 gear that isn't that amazing and been handling myself very well. There are probably more cons than I could come up with but that's all I can see for now.

If you decide to play this game make sure you find a good guild with team speak, I cant remember having this much fun in a game in a very long time. There are a lot of pros, almost to many to name, but there are a few cons too. One of the biggest cons for me is the PvP with how gear based it is, and with some classes being far superior to others for PvP. Otherwise if you try to play this game alone it will be lackluster, but if you play with a large group of people you will have a friggin blast

After six years of development and nearly two years of closed testing, ArcheAge's Korean open beta is nearly upon us. XLGAMES has revealed that the final tuneup phase prior to launch will begin on January 2nd, 2013. Korean players will be able to download the client on December 17th, and there's...

    Pros:

Farming system, it's nice to see a game take more of a thoughtful look at resources.

    Housing, players love it.

Labor system.  I think once people get used to it they'll understand the good that this system brings to the game.

Skill tree freedom.  You can have any skill tree in any combination.

    Cons:

    Lack of races

Skill tree leveling.  Unless you level with a tree, leveling one after you reach 50 is tedious.

Mount leveling.  Currently, mount leveling is monotonous and serves little purpose.

FFA flagging system.  Allows you to flag for same-faction PK at will with a short duration timer to turn it off.

Crafting system.  It's RNG based which is just a disguise for complexity.

Skill tree system and combat.  It's true that the freedom of whatever skill tree you want to have is kinda cool but because the system has difference in where you get attack power/magic damage you're quite limited in viable combinations.

    Average:

PvP seems lackluster with no real meaning or reasoning outside of ganking for trade packs.

PvP combat is so-so, some classes can dominate 1v1 due to ridiculous amounts of CC and high damage abilities.

2, I agree, this is one of the few games where I click on the quests and then run and kill x of y. What's more many of the quests are dopey in that your quest objectives will literally be a few hundred fee away or just across the road.

This is coming from somone who reads or listens to all the quests in The Secret World, LOTRO and Elder Scrolls Online.

I think you have to use some tools with some special ink you get from aqua farming using the printing skill and then use the composition skill to write the song. You will need to practice with an instrument for a while to get good enough to not miss a note while playing as well. You can either find song notes online and copy them or make your own from scratch.

PvP flagging on foreign continents is a game killer. If that doesnt get fixed game over.

Free to play people will be dock camping for trade packs because they cant own land, another game killer because only people that sub and pay money are interested in trading and PvE and they wont like getting ganked 5 feet from a turn in by the 200 people camping the docks.

Not a whole lot to do at level 50 but farm and trade or try and PvP but in all seriousness the 'REAL' PvP in tihs game is serverely lacking. People can spout all the want about it but you only gain honor under war conditions and if it isnt a war somewhere then people arent actively looking to PvP. Ganking and zerging PvE players is another matter but not actual PvP where both sides WANT to do it.

Systems are pretty limited. NO reputations to be gained, no special anything. The grind in this game is based 100% on the RNG for gear and weapons crafting. Very costly very bad system. But its an Asian grinder trying ot be westernized so Trion is doing their best to disguise the grind, but it isnt working.

Economy and AH system. Too volatile and pricing is a joke. Auto loading an auction matches lowest price which can be manipulated up or down depending. If something that sells for 50S gets bought out the next person can list for whatever they want and soon you have 5 pages of auctions still 5 times what any auction before it sold at. also goes the other way guys sniping auctions by listing a single item at 40 or 50% of the going rate hoping someone will lists stacks for the same price and then they buy them all up and re-list them. Yeah rewarding them for being 'smart' and making the 'lazy' guys victims but still a bad system over all.

Since youre not playing now you wont notice the way they destroyed the currency in the game. The special currencies are getting reduced to one type and obtaining that one type has been gated behind a severely broken system and a theme park daily quest grind. Both very negative to how the game currently offers them.

PvP way too much CC and classes not even close to being balanced. But sine the system as a whole is screwed up anyway that is a minor issue actually. But basically whoever gets the first shot wins 90% of the time. Which because of the aforementioned system is any time youre on foreign soil because you cant attack first.

It will remind you of other  games but it gets old fast. Its one of those games where once you get your house, boat, 'toys' youll be just logging in to do dailies or chop a tree or kill a pig or shear a sheep. Once that gets boring you will either stop subbing (and lose your land) or sell your spot (if its prime real estate) and play for free. This game is going to be very split. free to play gankers and 'pvp' and subscribing land owners and PvE. Right now all the changes seem to hinder hthe PvE crowd, which is a recipe for failure. So until they implement the changes the hype meter on this game has to be put in check.

Here it proves you are a solo player and this game is not ment for you.

Try any of the more pve carebear focused mmo's where you dont have to socialise or join a guild to get the most fun out of the game.

Archeage at its heart is a social mmo that focus on players that are working together for a single task, be that your task or you buddy's.

All your points are rubbish to many of us as you seem to miss the whole point of this mmo.

    pros:

    • Sandbox nor a Themepark; a lot of player types can be catered and play together
    • Open World PvP
    • Naval Combat
    • Fishing
    • Farming (although farming is more of a timer running out)
    • Limited Housing Space
    • Seamless world (but with instanced dungeons)
    • Custom classes; you can combine any 3 schools and create your own build (keep in mind that some schools will work together better than others, which will result in cookie cutter builds and flavor of the month builds)
    • Mounts that can carry 2 players

    cons:
    • no beards
    • terrible pvp flagging; at the opposite continent the reds can attack your group one by one and you can only join the fight when you are personally attacked.
    • Sandbox nor a Themepark; a few borky mechanics can turn away a lot of "customers", because trying to keep one group of players happy, can result in making another group very unhappy.
    • Trion (publisher) is not in direct control of the content, which is coded and added by XLgames (developers)
    • Very small world for an open world pvp game
    • too many game mechanics forced pvp hotspots (for example at gilda star delivery npcs)
    • Limited Housing Space, miss the headstart and you most likely have trouble finding a free spot
    • Many features are not ingame yet in Korea or haven't fully been worked out (player made factions and Northern Continent for example), so no estimate when these will be added to the Western version.

Again your vieuw........you realy want to make this a themepark or some version of farmville ?

PvP way too much CC and classes not even close to being balanced. But sine the system as a whole is screwed up anyway that is a minor issue actually. But basically whoever gets the first shot wins 90% of the time. Which because of the aforementioned system is any time youre on foreign soil because you cant attack first.

This is getting changed in the next big patch / build, in the meantime try Auromancy, breaks all CC / Stuns.

All your points are rubbish to many of us as you seem to miss the whole point of this mmo.

    o/

lol. What gives you the right to say the game is not meant for him? It seems in fact, YOU are missing the point. This game is a sandpark, which means there is no right or wrong way to play it. It's just as possible to play this mmo solo as any other. Virtually everything can be soloed all the way from start to level 50. I'm pretty sure that at any time of day most players are doing solo stuff such as farming, trading, questing, fishing etc. and not grouped up at all. PvP is entirely optional btw in case you haven't noticed. This is not a hard core PvP game and if that's what you want, you're in the wrong game.

I love it ! diffrent flavors man...diffrent flavors

Free to play people will be dock camping for trade packs because they cant own land, another game killer because only people that sub and pay money are interested in trading and PvE and they wont like getting ganked 5 feet from a turn in by the 200 people camping the docks.

Hey!  hire mercs ? make it a guild run ? you know ?

The flagging issue is known universally as horrible and broken.  The devs have even admitted this aspect of the game is broken.

Its not a flavor, its just a broken part of the game.

If you try to do a turn in and sail a pack to Crescent Throne my friends and I can kill you 50 feet from the turn in point and there is no amount of friends you can bring that can stop us because of the broken flagging system.  We have the option to fight you all one at a time and the only thing your friends/mercs can do is stand there and watch.

Obviously this issue is only at ports where the flagging system issue is present.  Like the one where the large farm quest sends us.

    Pros:

A game with depth made for adults not afraid of forming social bonds

    Cons:

Your RL might take a backseat if not done in moderation, can be too addictive

Not a whole lot to do at level 50 but farm and trade or try and PvP but in all seriousness the 'REAL' PvP in tihs game is serverely lacking. People can spout all the want about it but you only gain honor under war conditions and if it isnt a war somewhere then people arent actively looking to PvP. Ganking and zerging PvE players is another matter but not actual PvP where both sides WANT to do it.

Man o man.....not a whole lot to do he says..........gues you play solo in your farmvile ?

Systems are pretty limited. NO reputations to be gained, no special anything. The grind in this game is based 100% on the RNG for gear and weapons crafting. Very costly very bad system. But its an Asian grinder trying ot be westernized so Trion is doing their best to disguise the grind, but it isnt working.

I love it man, i am tired of a carrot on stick to grind raids / dungeons till my eyeballs drop out from scripted bosses.

Being smart gets rewarded a bad thing ? :(

Since youre not playing now you wont notice the way they destroyed the currency in the game. o/

LMAO I always love these "carebear" comments. The whole thing is carebear including the so called PvP. Guys sitting around where they cant be attacked with 20 buddies looking to gank solo people what is more carebear than that?

As far as what to do, not really. You have  PvP (or what passes for PvP) or farmville as you call it. Maybe fishing until you run out of labor. You can swim around and explore but once you have seen all that then its nothing new and just like every other aspect of 'exploration' of MMOs. So if there isnt any raids or dungeons or reputations to work towards what is there? If you think its PvP them LMAO again. because there isnt a single MMO made in the past decade that has been focused on PvP and survived. Especially one that is free to play and require people to spend money in a cash shop to make a profit. (PvPers have zero reason to subscribe)

But really what is 'social' about this game? I run all over every map. North Island has guys who run through the gate and disappear alone as soon as they get there, usually looking for thunderstruck logs n their farms. I have yet to see a single major PvP fight there. Most guys pass each other by unless its a group of 4 or 5 and they see someone alone. freedich is a joke its whatever guild is there at the time looking to gank whatever person who doesnt know any better shows up with a trade pack. But lately it has been empty because no one goes there and therefore gankers have no targets to steal from so they get bored and leave also, maybe throwing an alt or two there to log in and check to see if anyone is around.

But really considering your comment about 'make it a guild run or hire mercs' comment shows you dont even know how the game works. If I take 50 guys onto another continent and there are 5 guys there waiting they can in theory wipe the whole group of 50 without ever getting hit themselves. Because of my first point of being unable to attack someone first on a foreign continent, and related to the other point about unrealistic CC.

Your the same type of streamer mentality guy who infests the official forums, they dont really know much about the game other than what you see or what people tell you you think is true. Or worse are a guild leader and have midless drones feeding them all their supplies and labor and claiming it is for the 'good' of the guild.  I have 'tested' most of it by doing things and these theories and best case scenarios just arent accurate.

Yes it has some positives but it has a lot of negatives and more negatives coming down the line.
