This post is meant to hopefully have someone fix the ArcheAge features list on mmorpg.com so it is current with what the game has. Right now it is missing a huge number of features from the game. If you're like most people, you would be far more interested in looking at Guild Wars 2, a game that's been out for over two years, rather than ArcheAge in alpha state based on the features list of both games at mmorpg.com. Here's what you see when you select ArcheAge from the list of games on mmorpg.com:
- Create Your Own Character Class | From a list of 10 abilities, choose any 3 to make your character class.
- Organize Expeditions | to safely explore the Land of Origin.
- Establish Your Own Country! | Come to own a piece of the Land of Origin, where you can build your own castle.
- Build Your Own House | Choose from various sizes and types, for your personal use, or to use as a public shop.
This is not only inaccurate, but the list is missing about 90% more of what the game really has.
The first item needs to be corrected to read:
- Create Your Own Character Class | From a list of 10 skill-sets, choose any 3 to make your character class. These can be changed later in the game with up to 120 different combinations of character classes. From the ArcheAge FAQ (http://www.archeagegame.com/en/faq/): There are no limits on how you mix and match the skillsets; you can pick your skillsets by flavor, or to maximize a certain attack or defense type. By level ten, you will be able to select three different skillsets out of a list of ten options. If you want to be an assassin/warrior/mage who throws fireballs and then jumps out of range, only to throw another fireball – or sneak up on your enemy to stab them in the back – you can build your class that way!
Missing from the ArcheAge features list on mmorpg.com (as shown at
http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/572/ArcheAge.html) is the following (mostly taken from
http://www.archeagegame.com/en/faq/):
ArcheAge is an open-world sandbox game unlike any other available in the West today. In ArcheAge you can: raise your mount, fight your way through a dungeon, craft the best armor in the game, make your mark on the world with an open-world farm or house, sail your ship on the high seas to trade with foreign ports, swoop in on airships and fight other players for plunder, claim a piece of land for your guild then fight with them to defend your territory from rival guilds, and lots of other fun things. We’re thrilled to be able to bring ArcheAge to the West!
- Naval Combat | Sail your ship on the high seas to trade with foreign ports or engage in combat enemy faction ships.
- Multiple Faction World PvP | Includes two faction World PvP with option to transfer to a third pirate or create a guild faction.
- Penalties for killing own faction | Jail time provides minutes or hours of time-out for players killing their own faction. Jail time is considered by accepting an optional judge (NPC) and jury (Players).
- Open Equipment Selection | With the mixing and matching of classes, you can also mix and match equipment. There’s nothing stopping a mage from wearing plate armor, or a warrior tank from wearing cloth! There are different stats for cloth, leather, and plate armor – and each armor type has different set bonuses – so pick the armor that best suits your play style.
- Mounts are pets | (from http://archeage.gamepedia.com/Mount) Once grown to an adult, mounts can be summoned into the world. They act like a separate character, in that they have their own health bar, stats, experience amount and level, slots for equipment, and collision. You can ride your mount or have them follow you as you run around; mounts also have different abilities that are gained as they level and can be used while you’re riding. They will also be attacked by hostile NPCs – or hostile players – bent on disabling your means of escape. In addition, there are battle pets and vanity pets.
- Farms | (from http://www.archeagegame.com/en/news/2014/04/archeage-feature-guide-housing-and-farms/) Once placed, farms have a single step of construction where you provide wood for the scarecrow in the center. This step is an important one! When a farm is first placed, the land is claimed by your character, but anyone can still plant or harvest from it. Building the scarecrow is what allows you to lock the farm’s access to you.A more advanced type of farm is the Aquafarm. This is a 16×16 farm that can only be placed underwater in specified areas, usually near the coastline. Aquafarms have a central air supply rather than a scarecrow, which allows you to refill your breath and stay underwater longer. This type of farm allows for the cultivation of corals, kelps, and shells that you can’t otherwise grow
- Player driven economy | (from the main page at http://www.archeagegame.com/en/) Gatherers, crafters, and traders: You are the engine that drives ArcheAge, and its economy is yours to control. Master diverse skills to craft goods and homes, galleons and castles. Transport and trade materials across the realm, braving danger and piracy to support your allies in wars that will change the fate of the world
- Gliders | (from http://archeage.gamepedia.com/Gliders) While flying you will be able to change your height, directions and speed while using your movement keys or mouse with the primary button held down. When flying the only limit to where you can explore is whether or not you have sufficient height to pass over obstacles. The higher you are on the terrain when you deploy your glider the further you will be able to fly and the higher the obstacles you'll be able to fly over. Flight time and distance varies depending on the glider you are using, your height at take off, and whether or not you have skills to prolong your flight. Most if standard glider flights are also limited to 3 minutes as indicated by a buff on your character however some rare gliders have flight times up to 10 minutes; If the buff runs out while you are still in flight you will fall to the ground and take fall damage. Dismounting (R)too far above the ground will also cause fall damag
- Free to Play | ArcheAge will continue the tradition of its forebear by being completely free including no retail purchase of the game. There will be an Item Shop in the game, but Trion Worlds insists that it will only be for cosmetic and convenience items, never for anything that would give one player a competitive edge.
