Whilst Vivendi owned Activision, Activision were run as an independent entity publishing distinct financial accounts and so on - for all intents and purposes they were independent and Vivendi didn't enter into the day-to-day equation. This relationship did, however, remove the threat of "hostile" takeovers and, potentially, did provide a source of funding (even without Activision Vivendi are still a huge company.
On top of that their was the relationship between Blizzard and Activision. Of late the relationship has appeared stable but historically Blizzard have been infamously independent - and of course they could always seek arbitration under Vivendi's judgement.
Now Activision have paid lots of money to come out from Vivendi's wing - and the first pressure will be making back that money.
Which brings with it the need to generate more money; spend that little bit less on development and so on.
At the end of the day I can't see things getting better - as I said Activision did operate as an independent company with some advantages.
Best case: no change - but it could get worse.
Destiny however looks stunning - and could it have a significant impact on WoW?

Could make it worse.
