I was thinking of resubbing to ffxiv, and am mainly just curious as to whether or not ESO's launch affected subs in this game.
Have a lot of people left? If so is it enough to be noticeable?
don't really want to resub, login, and have nothing to do due to a lack of players

Well thers a lot of people playing, but this game seems to have a high turnover rate. Meaning several people havn't been with it since launch, and not in it for the long haul. At least it seems that way to me.
Like my once fc of 156 members, with around 40 people on during prime time, has droped down to 23 over the past 7 days..... yet I still see tons of people expecially in revanaunts tole, and the starter cities.
The world may seem empty, but that's cause most people don't leave the cities, unless its fate grinding.
The fact that it seems to have as many subscribers as it did 4-5 months ago means that the game is getting as many players as its losing.
The steam sale and the PS4 release have kept the gaming buzzing. The game is jam packed with players, or maybe, it seems that way since i'm on a Legacy server.
Regardless, this game is one of the very few in the last 5 years who released as a P2P and has a great chance of staying P2P for years and years. It's a resounding success. 8 months in and it's picking up steam instead of losing it. 8 months in for SWTOR, everyone knew it was going F2P. No signs FFXIV will ever go that route and some of us love that!
just waiting till june for the ps4 release of eao and wildstar then i think i will get shut of this game.
ffxiv good game not so keen on who runs it sick to death of haveing accouts frozen due to some hacker got this game 3 times now and the lastest is my account is susspended due to a connention iss or something lkie that.
the password i used for this game was not used anywere else and if some one has cracket it they are very good
been playing mmos for years now but never seen anything like it acc wise like it is in this game.
If your account has been hacked twice then you have a serious personal issue. I don't know a single person that has been hacked in this game and other than the few rumours around launch I've never seen another person report losing their account in this way until yourself.
Sounds to me like you have a keylogger on your PC. No one 'cracked' your password because RMT don't do that, they just steal passwords from other sites and using keyloggers. If you had an account stolen with a password you never used before then you have a keylogger or you shared it with RMT somehow. Either way the issue is on you, not SE as it would be a more widespread concern if this was actually affecting many players...
If you don't have a security token you should get one (they're free).
As for ESO's release: I've seen no drop in activity since its release, same since Wildstar's launch too, if anything the community is still growing!
I'd have to say absolutely not. The game's population remains high and the game just keeps humming right along.

I have to agree with this. I just re subbed a week ago and there seems to be more people than before. Seems maybe people left ESO for FF lol. Just kidding, don't hate on me lol.
This site says it all. It just using the public loadstone information. For realtime data. there no ads or nothing on the site but the actually player base stats . Pretty impressive. http://www.xivsoul.com/ .
You can see the game going strong. There now at 2.6+ million unique users.
Seeing all the server recovery notices on almost daily basis still, I think those numbers are pretty accurate yes.
Servers are really loaded.
I actually quit FFXIV for a bit, played SWTOR, ESO and Wildstar for a bit, and then went right back to FFXIV and having way more fun. It's just a higher quality game, imo.
It doesn't seem like it's dying at all. I see quite a few people in lower to mid levels everywhere, though the majority are near the end, and the only real FATE grinding I noticed was in Coerthas, with not a lot going on before. Though there are, thankfully, a lot more options for comparative leveling now, as well as challenge log for good xp, and a daily random duty roulette for guildhests and dungeons for great xp once daily for each. The population may seem thinner to see just because they're spread out more evenly with more variety of activities (and many more incoming.)
