Already too late. This had to be ready earlier. Now it is time for different games and 2015 ... don't know If I even still have GW2 on my hd by then. The LS has busted a very good game. Sadly.

In 2015 my eyes will be on Camelot Unchained.

    My intel matches.

After the March 18th Epilog release, we'll be seeing some heavy balance/ class reworks towards the end of April continuing through May, perhaps June. Then expect to see a hiatus while content for the Anniversary is vetted.

For the Anniversary itself its looking like theres going to be a $15-20 supplement (not much in the way of details on that--some speculation about weapons, but nothing solid) along with the start of Living World Season 2 which is planned to be much shorter. LWs2 is expected to end before April 2015 and April is A.Net's favorite month for landing expansions.

My money is on the first expansion landing April 14th or 28th, 2015.

My question is, will GW2 expansions work the same way that GW1's expansions work?  So if you DON'T want the expansion you don't have to buy it because all their expansions were stand alone content?

Guess we'll have to wait and see huh?

Well the game has finally wore me down and even though I was looking forward to Edge of the Mists I havent bothered with it. The reasons seem to be complicated but in an MMO I do still enjoy story and social play equally important and yet the Living Story not satisfying because it seems to be often raid like getting too difficult without grinding content until you get a win with a large bunch of strangers it is often too hard to co-ordinate.

    Too late.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

If they bring an expansion i HOPE they change the following things or at least most of them :

-Fix the way classes are balanced i mean theres no Trinity but there SHOULD be one..add it or do something similar because whats the point of being a specific class if everyone is the same? the only thing that makes you feel more unique is the weapon you use but after that everyone has healing skills and  a lot of DPS/HP stats.

-PLEASE change the way gear is obtained from dungeons, instead of giving you coins for a piece of gear make the bosses DROP the actual gear parts! That will bring back that feeling of  "omg please drop that piece...yeeess!!!" and will make dungeons more exciting and make people go to dungeons even more, giving coins feels so fucking EASY that at the end make the game boring because you already got the best gear possible. ( i know theres ascended gear know but still they should implement this idea somehow)

    - Idk do anything that would make me  and a lot bunch of people play this game again...really because right now im looking forward to WILDSTAR, and i dont give a damn if you say its for kids because of its graphics (retarded to judge by the looks) because that game is even more hardcore that GW2 will never be and has a lot of feautres Arena Net put away from Gw2 like the Trinity, raiding, exciting dungeons with loot dropped from BOSSES not shitty coins, bunch of class skills (actuall real skills) and  even though it still has a perk tree to upgrade  and  path skills, incredible END GAME, Arenas, battlegrounds and Warplots (fuck your WvW) AND above that it even has HOUSING so you have a lot of things to do even at max level not like GW2 where you buy the game and in about 1 month or 2 (if you have a job and life like me) you reach max level with legenday gear and some ascended gems with nothing else to do than WvW, forget about living story, that thing sucks.

PD: and sure wildstar is for kids that will pay subscription and if you take a look to the fan page of wildstar and forums, about 90% of the community are people over the 20 years old

2014: Elder scrolls online, Everquest Next Landmark and Wildstar will kick GW2 down.

2015: Everquest next, Camelot Unchained, Warhammer will kick GW2 down.

2016: Anet launched Guild Wars 3.

Expansions are waaay too late already. Should have launched them half a year ago already.

People said that Tera, SWTOR and TSW will make Anet close down their company.

Anet Devs (Colin Johansen, etc) have stated in prior interviews (January 14, 2014 - eurogamer, massively) that they've been working on expansion content, alongside LS content, and  that we could for sure expect to see content typically found in expansions at some point. They have several teams working on LS content simultaneously, with what I assume is another team working on expansion content. They've stated the only issue is how they will release it - they had not yet determined whether they would release a boxed expac, a gemstore update, or stagger it through the LS season.

*shrugs* its only a matter of time for this game. They needed an expansion this year or last year by the time it drops not many will care because the real big dog mmos will be out. (ArcheAge, EQN, Destiny, Division,CU)

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!

The thing about GW2, and other F2P games, is that people that have gone on to other games, already own the game. Their account isn't going anywhere. So if an expansion drops next year, half of the "the game is dead people" will have already gotten bored with their "real MMO games" and will buy the expansion. If the expansion gives a new land mass, new professions, new races, skills, legendaries etc. People will buy it. Especially if the living story is taking place in the new zones. I liken people who give the "the game is dead" speech, to the same people who complain about who is going to play Batman in the new Batman/Superman movie. They'll rail against someone like Ben Affleck, talk about how horrible it is that he's going to play their favorite superhero. Then turn around and go to the movies twice or more to watch the movie. The game does need an expansion, and I have not really enjoyed the living story, and don't get me started on the stupid super adventure box, and zephyrites being recycled, again and again. The core game is very good though, and I think that all it needs is a properly made expansion to really put it over the top. That being said, if there is no expansion coming, I give it a year to a year and a half, and it will be so far out of peoples' minds that Anet would do better to start on GW3.

If they decide to put out said expansion for..$60 I will gladly pay it, I will pay even more for a CE. It doesn't bother me to pay for expansions because this game does not have a monthly sub, so yeah, please release a CE like you did with GW1!!

Wait what? You mean there are less elitist asshats around now? And that is bad how? Elitists take the fun out of games, so I honestly care less about them leaving.

Also, not sure when you played last, but the game is not "dead"......

...and to be a prick...it's "elite" you moron.

Ofc there will be an expansion IMO, there's a lot of demand for it, and lo they take on a lot of developers - that won't be for more living story.

I found this article from december 29, 2012 (almost 2 years ago) about the exactly same firm making a prediction about expansion in 2nd half of 2013.

    http://www.gamebreaker.tv/mmorpg/guild-wars-2-expansion-predicted/

You can also check this link:

I dont see this firm KDB Daewoo as special reliable

I highly doubt that Arenet is working on an expansion. I think besides GW2 living story they are working on a new game. GW3 or other MMORPG

If you were a developer and you knew that you were guaranteed to make 10's of millions from expansion why would you not. I suspend they will anyway, that would be my call it's a winwin no brainer, players happy, Anet makes money.

Ps they won't, looking at gw1 & 2 they don't need to start thinking about gw3 for many years.

I should maybe write a new thread about why they are not making an expansion. One reason I can mention here is that they have always said something like this: "We are not currently planing on doing an expansion, but we are not saying that it will never happen" (not exactly quote)

In PC Gamer May 2007 Issue #161 they write about GW2 (with information directly from Arenanet). Notice this is more than 5 years before GW2 was released.

So if they want to make GW3 in at least same scale as GW2, my guess is that is will take at least 5 years to make.

If they just start now it will be ready in 2019 or so. Not sure GW2 will be active until end of 2019.
