How to get started with Fiesta online?

I am trying to play Fiesta online, but no luck so far. I downloaded a 1.5 GB large executable, which took about half an hour to start, unpack, install the game or whatever.
After that, the game started updating things for another half hours, after which I frustratingly switched off the computer. It always counted to 100% for something to update, but when reaching 100% it started from 0& again.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT? Is there ANY way to tall the time I have to wait until I finally can play this game???
