LOTRO website and game servers unreachable.
DDO website and game servers unreachable.
Turbine main Company website unreachable.
I basically only get directed to Google or Bing lol. Like they didn't pay their domain names bill and got removed from DNS.

Seems there are some Power outages going on around Turbine Offices/data center due to Tornados. /sigh
Doesn't bode well for the expansion release tomorrow.
Probably this:

Yeah, was wondering if this was the issue, guess we will just have to wait and see if it affects tommorows launch.
Ehhhh....... How is that gonn help when appearently the entire datacenter is down due to power outage. Lol /shrug
Did they forget to renew stuff again?
I like DDO n all but at times I seriously question some of their competency as incidents like this seems to be on a regular basis at times.
Last I checked they arent able to commit an act of god and prevent tornados.
The company I work for uses virtual machines in a "cloud" type formation in a big data center, with thousands of sessions active. They had a "blip" in power, just for a second, and it crashed the whole cloud. It took over a day just to restart it. Hopefully it is no worse than that.
So ..... what to play now?

It took about fifteen seconds to find that other services that share Turbine's data center are offline as well.
Figures, got the urge to try out the game again last night after watching the Hobbit, then servers go down 1 hour into it. Hope nobody was injured if the office holding the stuff got hit.
Was standing there at the crafting area, trying to decide on which craft line to try out and also if the game is worth playing with a sub or not. Looks like with the sub you only get VIP with some perks but still confused on if it would be worth it or not.
Not going to buy anything from the cash shop if I can sub, or do I still have to buy stuff even with a sub? If I still have to buy stuff from the cash shop with a sub I will uninstall now. I understand the expansion packs need to be purchased but I'm talking about general game stuff needing to be purchased.
You don't have to buy stuff from the cash shop if you sub. Or if you don't sub, for that matter.
Ok now that was funny ,well i thought it was,not as funny as Russell Peter's but it was ok .

I live outside of Chicago. A neighbor has a 30 foot pine tree growing out of his lawn. It was bending in the wind. So, it was just delightful around here. And, my area got the LEAST of the storm. So, if Turbine was relying on something in the Midwest. cut them some slack.

Turbine is in Boston, in the Northeast. Texas is in the South.
The storms are in the Midwest.

Then you know nothing about the power grid.
1) It's all connected
2) the states constantly buy power from each other depending on price and availability.
I know because I was in market research ten years ago and we did a project for a software company whose software helped the utility companies find and buy the cheapest power - from all across the United States. Since the grid is completely connected it's simple a matter of transport permissions and fees.
A major distribution center outage due to storms could put a lot of area out of power, including areas not connected but their power was traveling that route. Until it's re-routed power remains down.
Now then, I have NO idea if the gas lines are connected thusly.
well I would agree. But are there data centers in boston?
edit: I'll defer to Safra. Obviously there are power plants closer but I certainly don't know how power plants work.
In any case looks like power is restored and they are looking on getting everything up and running.
