Will eq next be another cartoonish game? Please say this is wrongy please!1!!

    Yes. And thank god because it will keep the teenies out. Teenies are too busy convincing people they are adults so all they want is unrealistic and childish levels of blood and gore.

    Its getting old, if this is cartoony then you dont even know what you talk about. Or need a glasses. Art style is more like Bioshock Infinite if anything. And we all know how gorgeous it was.

    Think about this, would you rather have the look of Real Life or better environmental developments. The graphics are as good as they can be i'm sure. I rather have the ability to be walking by a cliff area and start digging for gold, gems what ever. I love this idea.

    well with exception of the Kerran, which the certainly need to redo, the visuals were okay for me, had hoped for something more alike of PS2 though.

    I'll admit, I have my concerns for this game. The Art direction isn't one of them.

    The game looks great. Have you ever played Borderlands 2? It was cartoony and looks awesome. The characters faces are a bit cartoonish in EQN the rest of it..not really.. It looks amazing go watch some you be vids.

    Thread 1 billion  on topic of 'cartoony' perhaps but it is yet another thread filled with 'supposed adults' throwing the 'kids/children'  insults around.

     

    You were all kids yourselves at one point on top of the fact insulting people by calling them children is well.. childish?

    Doesn't matter really because true vets of this genre go for gameplay over graphics so let's just wait what all the gameplay will be like cause that would be the most interesting thing to look for especially on this forum where VETS often talk about gameplay being more important then graphics.

    And lets face it there is simply so much more that can be done in the game the way it looks as to trying to make the game more realistic looking, cause we all know how that will turn out as that would limit the possibility's offered by such a game.

    So of course it's not wrong, got to much gaming experiance to even consider it wrong. And I am a graphic whore but luckely I have plenty of "single" player games that can satisfied my graphics needs while I expect more out of a MMORPG then just graphics. It's the whole package with MMORPG to me. And seeing what's already possible in EQN I must say I am placing this on my definit too get list.

    My grandchildren will love it! They love all of the Disney cartoons. They liked playing GW 2 also. This is the style of game they really like. They are 4 and 5 now. I hope they don't out grow it before it comes out.

    There are players who enjoy the adult content. I for one get satisfaction when heads come off and blood pools on the ground ala AoC. I am not childish, just very dark and sadistic. Also anyone who says EQN isn't cartoonish is in denial and need to watch rapunzel, I can almost guarantee that the mounts will look exactly like the horse from that cartoon as well.

    Now go hug your teddy ruxpin and cry in a corner someplace.

    No, we can never have enough of these threats! SOE made a big mistake with this kind of character graphics, and the word has to be spread.

    Its important for me to be able to identify with my character, and I cant identify with characters that look like this. And I believe a large group of players shares my view.  

    If you like the cartoony character models then say so. But please stop to using thought-terminating cliches and stop insulting people by calling them kids only because you don’t like their option. Because I think its safe to say that this behaviour actually is childish.

    IMHO Stylized art holds up better with age. They are also using the large eyes and mouth to help the SOEmote feature be more noticeable.

    I very much like the graphic and art style of EQN. I feel that this type of art style ages much better than a more realistic one. 5 years down the line, this game will still look nice, however a game that would take a more realistic approach to the art style will look very dated. In 5-10 years, I'm sure we'll have games with photo realistic art styles and you'll look back on something like Black Desert and think that it looks so old.

    Yes, you are completely right. But there are many ways to stylize a model. They didn’t need to use this distinctive art style that reminds so much of Disney/Pixar. I have no problem with Elizabeth from Bioshock. The differences are small but they are very important imo. It also has to do with the kind of drama-queen-emotes they gave her.

    Well, and the Kerra is just broken beyond repair. There is no single pixel on him that does not look wrong.
