by agreeing theyr EULA in the install process, you give every bit of your privace to them on a silver plate.
In EU this is highly illegal.
A. WHEN RUNNING, THE GAME MAY MONITOR YOUR COMPUTER'S RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) AND/OR CPU PROCESSES (INCLUDING MAC ADDRESS, SYSTEM OR CONFIGURATION FILES, CRASH DATA, ETC.) FOR UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAMS RUNNING CONCURRENTLY WITH A GAME. AN “UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM” AS USED HEREIN SHALL BE DEFINED AS ANY THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE THAT, WHEN USED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE GAME, WOULD CONSTITUTE A VIOLATION OF SECTIONS 1, 2 OR 11. IN THE EVENT THAT THE GAME DETECTS AN UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM, TRION MAY (I) COMMUNICATE INFORMATION BACK TO TRION, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE ACCOUNT INFORMATION, DETAILS ABOUT THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM DETECTED, AND THE TIME AND DATE THE UNAUTHORIZED THIRD PARTY PROGRAM WAS DETECTED; AND/OR (II) EXERCISE ANY OR ALL OF ITS RIGHTS UNDER ANY TRION AGREEMENT, WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE TO THE USER.
B. WHEN THE GAME IS RUNNING, TRION MAY OBTAIN CERTAIN IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR COMPUTER, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION YOUR HARD DRIVES, CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT, IP ADDRESS(ES) AND OPERATING SYSTEM(S), FOR PURPOSES OF IMPROVING THE GAME AND/OR THE SERVICE, AND TO POLICE AND ENFORCE THE PROVISIONS OF ANY TRION AGREEMENT.
C. Trion may, with or without notice to you, disclose your Internet Protocol (IP) address(es), personal information, chat logs, and other information about you and your activities: (angel) in response to a request by law enforcement, a court order or other legal process; or (beer) if Trion believes that doing so may protect your safety or the safety of others.
D. TRION MAY MONITOR, RECORD, REVIEW, MODIFY AND/OR DISCLOSE YOUR CHAT SESSIONS, WHETHER VOICE OR TEXT, WITHOUT NOTICE TO YOU, AND YOU HEREBY CONSENT TO SUCH MONITORING, RECORDING, REVIEW, MODIFICATION AND/OR DISCLOSURE. Additionally, you acknowledge that Trion is under no obligation to monitor your electronic communications, and you engage in those communications at your own risk and with no expectation of privacy."

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Well the monitoring was a necessary evil because of the insane abundance of Fishing Bots .. People would openly admit it because they thought it was okay. They've had to combat that by looking for programs like AutoHotkey and such.
The rest seems to me like the average legal covering of their asses when it comes to cyber-bullying.
Lastly, I can only see someone being worried if they have something to hide. I'm not worried.
well im not worried either,
Its just for the hypocrits out there.

So you don't mind people peeking through your window, because you have nothing to hide, right?
1. IP addresses, and MAC Addresses are no secret, I can easily bypass any forum ban, game ban, or spoof my mac address I will not give instructions here because its against forum rules but its easy to do with very little experience this is sent to the game server usually on login and easy to spoof.
2. If you are concerned about what the game is monitoring run it in a restricted sandbox then you can provide the game false information of any system spec, IP address, or MAC you want to given you know how.
3. Operating System/Hardware specs are not private anyone can get it.
4. Personal Information, and chat logs is likely what is said in the game to other players however with this said you can go to any wi-fi hotspot, spoof mac address, and grief/troll they couldn't find you without something that seriously broke the Law given you know what you are doing.
5. Part D. based on what I understand simply means that if you are using skype between friends for example they are not responsible if another person makes a RL threat over skype for example to you you have to report that to the police along with the persons user name to the third party company and such.
6. The disclaimer is simply because they do monitor for cheats and that information is sent back to them to detect cheaters just to keep legal issues off Trion mainly I remember when I ran cheat engine and Face of Mankind even when I wasn't cheating the game I got banned although I got my account back after telling them what happened that is an example of cheat detection via ram, now I could bypass this by running Face OF Mankind in a sandbox that limits it to reading only memory in the sandbox program or what I want it to read then run cheat engine outside the sandbox and not get banned for example, although it couldn't be used to cheat the game then but the game would be unable to read any programs outside the sandbox I don't want it to.
If you are really concerned about this I would be more concerned about Punk Buster which sometimes is installed maliciously along with other games on your system and always runs in the background. I would also be more concerned about Xbox One, and the NSA prism project which is basically to monitor all internet communications, every post you make, your phone calls, what you do on your Xbox for defense purposes. Yeah fact is if you don't want that type of monitoring to occur the only way is not to use a Cellphone, Don't use a computer, an Xbox, or any device that connects to the internet because your personal information can be compromised.
Although I am not playing rift anyways until they fix the weapon skinning to be part of the wardrobe/free as I lost Real Money being mislead by their cash shop contacted customer service about a refund and a week or more later no response yet even after their mistake on the descriptions which they fixed after a long debate.
This is nothing out of the ordinary and constitutes no violation under EU law. You were probable thinking of them intercepting internet communication, which is not what they are doing. They are just monitoring the game processing space for cheat programs.
There is NO miracle patch.
95% of what you see in beta won't change by launch.
Hope is not a stategy.

hey OP maybe you should check your mobile phone company
they monitor every world you are saying also they can track you down anywhere you are
what if a TRION employee was outside your window watching you play RIFT?????????
I'd do something to scar his memory for life so he'd never want to come and look at me agian!

No it says clearly,*without any limitation to your harddrive*
Its not only US. Its in GB the same also in probably all other Countries. China does it, thats how theyre able to censor press.
But while those privacy informations are rather usless to them, they could come in handy for game companys or any other advertising company.
You think XboxOne doesnt work togehter with prism? that way they are able to track people around the world.
Face recognition via xboxone eye? no problem- now possible even in your own home!
thats conspiracy though, even if it sounds very plausible.
Fine, we'll compromise. I'll get my way & you'll find a way to be okay with that.
Hi, OP. Welcome to MMOs.
Take a look at the TOS for any other subscription MMO made in the US. All of them monitor your chat, and they don't have to tell you in plain language. As for scanning your system, games have been doing this since PunkBuster was released about ten years ago.
If you don't agree with the terms of service, don't install any online games. Don't even play Facebook games because those have anti-cheat measures too.
At what point would I consider what they're doing to be wrong? I don't know, but I would be very unhappy if they decided to start sharing that information for a profit from marketing companies. If a game slows down my computer or even leaves a residual process when I'm not playing it (not including updaters), that goes too far.
Cluck Cluck, Gibber Gibber, My Old Mans A Mushroom
It's not clear in the EULA, but they are going to check your computer's configuration and the chat sessions in game. Both of which should be a fairly obvious thing and shouldn't surprise anyone.
They are not going to record your ventrillo chat sessions and they are not going to go through the contents of your hard drive.

If you don't believe me, install the game as an admin, then run the game as a limited user. Only games or applications that try to root your system with security software will require you to run the application as an admin. Games that don't require admin to run may complain about what they can't do, but they aren't trying to monitor or track external applications.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
That's actually kind of a turn-on.
I hear you, and I see your point, but I really don't care.
