Still under NDA? Why?

crysentcrysent Member UncommonPosts: 841

This is a pet peeve of mine, but as far as I've heard FFXIV is still under NDA?

Why?  In my opinion when a game releases pre-orders, they should drop the NDA.  I'm on the fence about ARR and would love to hear some actual beta reviews.

Because so far, no system has been shown in it's final stage? Currently, every system in the game is in development and we will see the final product in Beta 4, possible Beta 3.

Beta 3 will have a small bit of the NDA removed while Beta 4 will have no NDA as it's Open Beta.

My pet peeve is in regards to releasing pre-orders but not lifting the NDA.

I don't know if every system is in development or not, I would have hoped 3 months out that at least some systems would be fully developed.

I understand how you feel but in Square Enix's position, they don't really want to release the NDA until they shown their final versions of the systems so people won't judge the game until the game is at the stage where they want it to be.

The pre-orders now is for FF fans who will buy the game regardless how it plays and for those who trusts Yoshida to release a great game. You can pre-order the game now and if you don't like it in Open Beta, just cancel the pre-order.

I'm sure you understand that the majority of the industry works this way. At most you'll get a demo a month before release, but all in all you'll be going in blind when you pre-order any other game.

As I'm sure you're also aware, pre-orders will be taken until close to the release. There is a large window to try the game and for NDA to be lifted before you can no longer pre-order. You simply do not have to go in blind, SE does not hold a gun on your head regarding this. All you have to do is wait a while longer, I don't think this is unreasonable.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

I would like to see you name many games that removed NDA over 3 months before release.

    You seem clueless really.

The game is still in Closed Beta, the NDA will be lifted when it hits Open beta as with all games of this type.

They have released plenty of ingame videos, screenshots and information to help with choice of preorder, or you can wait 1 month till the NDA is lifted.

Quite honestly if you take 3 seconds to google , there are massive leak sites that will tell you everything. Screenshots to videos to forum posts.
Been that way for years now - sites that are dedicated to beta leaks under NDA and are hosted where the companies cannot do anything about it.

Having an NDA for mmorpg's that have any sort of external beta into the thousands has really been pointless for years now.

Reporting NDA-enforced content for mmorpg's that have any sort of external beta into the thousands has really been pointless for years now...Since the mechanics can change dramatically before launch.

If you don't trust it, then don't buy a pre order and wait for open beta to give you more info.

    Simples.

I'm sure during phase 3, more NDA restrictions will be lifted, but not all of them.

That said, E3 is in June, and they have big plans for the event.

It would be kind of cool if you could get an in-game pet that was actually called a Peeve.  Then you can literally run around with your pet Peeve.

I think NDA is lifted phase 3 . I will be streaming the game on my LS website and on twitch . IF it is PH3 when the NDA is lifted , again I think so but could be wrong there are conflicting reports on when it will be lifted . PH3 and Ph4 or just Ph4
