PvP Questions

Considering coming back to WoW with a friend and had a few questions related to PvP I hope a current player who is into WoW's PvP scene can answer for me.

 

1) My friend and I played when Cata came out but ran into an issue in 2v2 arena PvP where matchups of Healer+DPS VS Healer+DPS would constantly end in 45 minute draws at the higher ELO's.  Was this ever fixed/address or is this still the norm?

2) Again related to 2v2 arena PvP which is the kind of PvP we would be coming back for (yes, I know that is not Blizz's focus), is it possible to get a full set of the top arena gear by playing 2v2, or do you *have* to do well in 3v3/5v5 in order to have the ability to buy certain pieces?

3) Is the PvP gear actually the best gear for PvP?  From BC to Cata it was common for the best PvP gear in certain slots (especially trinkets) to actually be high-end raid-only PvE gear.  Has this changed?  We have no interest in PvE raiding 60 hours a week to be on equal footing for arena PvP.

4) Did they ever add Team or Guild based rated BG's, or are BG ratings still personal rating only?

 

Answers to any of these questions *from current, active players who are PvP focused* would be very much appreciated, since it will determine whether we spend the $120 required to return to WoW.  Other insights/info related to current rated PvP are also welcome.  Thanks in advance.

Only thing I can say is lvl 1-89 pvp is completely broken.  I got sick of it and didn't max out any toon.  It is exactly as you described there are tons of combinations that would end up in a draw with neither side able to kill anyone.  I do not suggest this game to anyone unless they just want to focus endgame pvp.
