State of the Game 2 (Rant)

There has been a lot of complaints with Defiance and the ongoing problems this game has. Once you beat the game, it is very hard to find things to do that are not repetitive. I hope Triton Worlds know what has to be done to try to keep this game alive.

I would just take a break, go play something like Dead Island Riptide.  Defiance doesn't strike me as a game that is designed for continious attention.  I know it's an MMO but it has more of a feel of something like Global Agenda. In other words - drop in see whats going on and do a bit, drop out and play something else.  Repeat, or leave until some DLC appears.

I think in all honesty the general gist I get from what has been said so far in the community updates is they have had a lot of underlying platform related issues - probably due to better than expected initial demand. I think they are quite behind in their overall plans.  They are still making the right noises, but whether they can catch up enough to hold peoples interest I don't know.  I agree not enough is happening.

The hellbug season and the competion for a TV crossover has made Arkfalls more popular.  But again I don't think that was thought through,  most Ark Salvage per hour gets your character into the show.  Most of us already know we don't have a chance of winning, so why bother.  Needed to be a bit more involved than that, like a treasure hunt or something.   Or multiple ways to win or be shortlisted.   Things just seem a little rushed like they are playing catch-up all the time.

It becomes repetitive "once you beat the game?" Defiance becomes intolerably repetitive after you've done two or three missions or arkfalls!

useless video. told me absolutely nothing about the game. all he said was they need to fix bugs and release content. give me specific information. what haven't they fixed? what content is supposed to be released? what content has the community been asking for?

I LOVED the game for 20hrs.  Now I cannot stomach to play it again.  They left too much on the  table.  And I will not pay for the DLC.

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

I'm thinking that all those people who complain about repetitiveness should get a job writing quests for developers. There's always going to be some repetition in these games. As far as content goes and being bored, haven't we beaten this subject to death already? It's not like we haven't been told about content being released and the game just came out. Trion is not a company that is relaxed about releasing content so I wouldn't worry about that so much.

I wouldn't say Defiance is any more/less repetitive than most MMO or shooter based games.  If you find it repetitive after two or three missions and Arkfalls, then it's obviously the wrong game for you.   But with such low tolerance levels you can not be a shooter or an MMO fan.  Because these are probably the most repetitive formats in gaming as it stands, short of playing something like Tetris.

Uhhh, yeah, no crafting, no worn gear, no significant progression of weapon power, 100% fetch quests that involve the exact same thing every single mission, amateurish AI that has NPCs either standing out in the open or ROLLING every two seconds, 2000 era graphics with terrible animations. And, oh god, Arkfalls, when you've done one you've quite literally done them all. What are there maybe two or three Arkfall scenarios and in maybe two or three different locations on the map?

I've played EVE for 4 years so my "low tolerance level" is for games with zero depth and zero reason to log in. Apparently you have a low tolerance for games that involve using your brain.

I think the barrage of fps mmos that have come out really affected this game. On the surface it just looks bland and genetic.

What MMO doesn't become repetitive after a few weeks?

Every MMO gets repetitive i agree but some devs are able to make even those repetitive tasks a lot of fun. I have been playing MMOS for a long time but i have never been so bored out of my mind while doing missions as i was in Defiance in just first week.

I carried on any ways because i wanted to finish the storyline. And once i did that i haven't logged in for almost  a month now. On the other hand i can not stop playing games like NW and Aion. So i doubt it is about repetitiveness but how boring and dull those repetitive tasks really are.
