Go to any girls toy section and see a scantily clad barbie on the shelves! Give me a break.

This game's target audience is ppl into pixelated hotties. These ads dont show any whole breasts or vaginas exposed.

If you want to be angry about sexism target the porn industry and a pop culture media that says its ok. You can also thank jury and judge who brought us people vs larry Flint (penthouse) who says it free speech.

If your worried about the children be a parent and limit the exposure as much as possible.

As for the game you giving it really good exposure by complaining about it and ppl curious to check it out. Personally I rolled my eyes at the ads and Sb site and moved on...and well writing this post....

I blame it on bad parenting who let thier children/full grown adult children live at home in the basement for far too long.

You people....offended by boobs!  You all make me sick.  Call yourself men....it's an effing cartoony picture.  This is what's wrong with our world.  Lighten up or use adblock if you are going to be little girls about it.

Scarlet Blade is a fucking joke. It's a terrible game, and that's the only reason I don't want to see the advertisements.

I have however seen a lot of porn advertisments, and they are generally a lot more graphic than the Scarlet Blade ones.

Hold Ctrl+scroll up or down on your mouse to zoom in and out will make the ads go off the screen while handling your forum business :)

I think there is a lot more wrong with the world than people being offended by advertisements.

First, thanks for letting me know. For the first time ever I've disabled Adblock on mmorpg.com, hoping to see those "porn ads".

Second: Where are they??? I heaven't saw one yet... very dissapointed :(

Think we should block Japan and Korea as a whole as all the content coming from those areas is mangastyle and devoted to show young girls with huge ears and eyes running around in skirts and huge weaponry.

    This.

    Violence prone ads are ok,

But semi nudity is shocking ?

You guys have a funny idea of what constitutes porn.

Mildly suggestive advert to lure teenage boys into playing some probably quite poor game, aren't porn.

    Oh I can give you a fun example;

I know a guy who likes to hunt in the woods, he has guns at home you would only expect on Specforces, he teaches his sons how to guns to hunt and defend themselves...

yet he complained about mss Jackson's 'accidental' nipple slip during the Superbowl, as it would be a very bad for the moral values of the younger generations.

Ultil you can assure me MMORPG.com will refrain from sexist porn ads, I will unfortunately keep you on Adblock.

Be sure to stay away from TV, Internet, Public area's as well while you're at it... Or.. move to the USA.. I am not sure what the problem is to be honest.. most of you play shooting games, or watch something that involves violence and that is okay? We are forced to look at violent things day in day out and you complain about cartoonized dolls?

Weapons and violence are okay but cartoons are not? Where is the world going...

So, your reasoning is this shouldn't be allowed because you are bored at work and want to not do work and instead do games, things that are rated M and NSFW (not safe for work).  Such a great argument.

Maybe you should do work instead of doing games at work, I don't care what you're reasoning is why you want to only post on forums at work.  Where I work, we don't have computers to do that while working.

Some companies don't care that a person searches the internet as long as their work is done. Heck, my company has no problem with it (biotech firm). As I'm an Administrator (paper pusher among other things) as long as I excel at my job it's not an issue at all.

It does make things rather uncomfortable to have these ads big bright and in one's face while people are passing by the desk.

@Elikal: not porn my friend, there is more skin in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

It's just more silly/ridiculous if anything.

See, no need for unnecessary drama.

If offends the owners of mmorpg.com if we block their ads. We're "stealing".

At the same time, it's required by the ad space they've chosen to sell.

Hoist by their own petard, effectively.

In the meantime, this ridiculous game keeps reappearing on the front page (of the forums, in addition to the ads) over and over again. The power of marketing.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

Some people are just sat there on shifts on standby in case something goes wrong. They'd go nuts without internet access.

My boss saw the adds and just laughed. To suggest its the same thing as porn is ludicrous.

So I've seen a few of these threads now, and have finally caved in to post something on the matter even though it's the same view as a lot of people here have.

Those ads really aren't porn. Every man has been single in his life (even if it was just as a teenager) and I'm sure any one of them can confirm this, hell even a good few women can (if they admit to having actually watched some porn). Are the ads tacky? You bet. A pathetic attempt at a quick cash grab? Of course. But porn? No.

And seriously, you really can't condem them for being too "porn-like" if you have no problem with the violent ads that are everywhere. Personally I'd like to see them gone for a matter of taste, but I know that won't happen while they are still willing to pay to have them up. And you know what? That's fine because that money keeps this site running.

Adverts seem to generate a big chunk the threads here too. Anyone remember the "is the TESO elf a transvestite?" threads.

Coming from a guy with Sona as your avatar showing some huge cleavage and as a smaller picture, looks almost bare chested,  Hypocrites unite!

It's not so much about his personal views or being a hypocrite. It's about being on a website that can get you fired. Simple as that. His avatar isn't going to get him fired. Scarlet Blade ads might. We can debate the definitions of porn and erotica all day long. Everyone knows MMOs push it themselves. But at some point, you have to make the call. Is this site NSFW or SFW?

Don't ever come in Europe during summer. Here women sunbathe topless, you'd have a heart attack.

I've seen a few comments mentionning how we wouldn't bat an eye if it was shirtless man in the ads, I wonder if that's really true however. In video game ads, a shirtless man definitively does not project the same intentions as a shirtless female, the former usually depicts a muscle man to give the impression of "power" whereas the latter gives the impression of "beauty" or "arousal" (if they take certain pose). To make a real comparison of the Scarlet Ads, which uses "naked" female imagery for sexual purposes, you'd have to find the male equivalent, which is "naked" male imagery for sexual purposes.

Consider ads like these showing on MMORPG.com and how you'd feel with them :

Tag: Make your enemies bend over!

Tag: Show them who's the master!

    ------------

Would you be bothered by those ads?

These images are a little too tame for what I wanted to portray, but oh well. I tried to find more sexual imagery, but sexual images of male wearing clothes (to keep this website-friendly so I don't get a warning) are a little on the hard side to find.

The heads and faces of a 12 Y/O on bodies twice their age. Yeah, I agree, it's not sexy, arousing, attractive  or beautiful in any way. There is nothing natural here. It won't prevent me from visiting MMORPG, but the pictures a a little disturbing.  Maybe if the art direction depicted female faces that matched the bodies and were clearly in the 20s, the argument might be about erotica. But these......are just kinda freaky tbh.
