    Boy that sounds fun...

+1, let's take everything that was wrong with the original, and keep screwing up! Yea! EA FTW! Why do they do this? I tried so hard to love this game. Why?

    - and - makes +. So if you make lots of minuses you get lots of pluses as a result. < ------ EA logic ;P

Let me clarify a couple things:

NGE is a term that commonly refers to taking an awesome game and ruining it because a bunch of stuffed suit and ties know what makes a yacht great, but have zero effing clue what makes a video game great.

When a game is already a giant, corn riddled, floating turd, then there's only one place it could go with a complete redesign and that's BETTER.

So NGE has no place in SWTOR discussions.

    Thank you for your time.

Actually SWTOR was NGEd on release. It is like playing SWG from Nov 2005 as NGE, and knowing no better

Dallas Dickinson pushed the NGE, and was also responsible for the dumbing down of SWTOR

During the last six months of development, the team began a difficult triage process; where features that weren’t going to make it for launch were cut. All development heads were summoned to daily meetings at what Dallas dubbed ‘The Death Star’ – with each team being coached on what to cut, and what to keep. “Some developers cried,” explained Dallas. “I didn’t enjoy that.”

I do not see devs "crying" if stuff was merely delayed, the stuff that was cut must have been permanent.

If I spent years working on a product, then saw it being carved into a cookie cutter design, I would cry too ..

The game would never become the WoW killer it was supposed to be, there would be no advancement possible within EA's subdivision BioWare because of lacking funds... people would lose their jobs.

Personally, I think they cried because they saw their dreams of becoming successful being burnt to the ground..

However... there is the so called secret space project. Thats the only thing that could be what was in development while more of the same is released. Which in that case, explains why there is more of the same while other systems are being developed.

Only if the SSSP (super secret space project) was the SSP instead aka super space project.

I'm guessing with that set up, on a scale from 1 to 10, that shot was impossible for you to resist.

Humm, maybe time to dust off my Bounty Hunter for some fun. SWToR pvp definitely can be fun.

That's always seemed to work for WoW, but I'm sure their success has nothing to do with EAs decisions.  Of course there is a lot of sarcasm in what I wrote so take it with a grain of sand.

I know your kidding, but just liked to use the point to point out:

It worked for WoW because Blizzard actually do poll opinions and changes base on what the customer base thinks.

And Blizzard don't think up hair-brain schemes to try to separate customers from their money, lol.

(the schemes that Blizzard has actually gives you value for money, not make you pay for every toolbar in the game)

Check out this short video guide to see what PVP Gear will be like in patch 2.0:

PvP Gearing changes in 2.0: http://youtu.be/hq8TEA6wCoA

I would like to note the specific changes to recruit gear, that being its removal. You're probably wondering how you're going to fair in PvP without a beginner's PvP set. Well Bioware has decided to replace recruit gear with its bolstering mechanic used in brackets 1-49. In patch 2.0 there are three brackets: LvL's 10-29, LvL's 30-54, LvL 55. That means if you go into bracket 10-29 you be boosted up to LvL 29, and if you go into bracket 30-54 you'll be boosted to LvL 54. Your stat bolstering will be determined by item LvL not character level this time around.

    Thanks for watching!

Not overly happy with the increase in expertise. I think PVP stats for gear are a bad design that puts more emphasis on gear rather than skill. I know that if all gear was similiar, the raiders would kick up an almighty stink because they know that less people would participate in raids if they had more options. But it would be healthier for the game overall.

Yeah I would have to agree with you on that note, I don't understand how it's gonna be more skill based if we don't see a normalizing of gear across the board. Hopefully them capping off the expertise at 2018 keeps everyone at LvL 50 even on the expertise scale though since they won't be getting rid of that stat any time soon.

This isn't exactly the best time to bring about goal post moving arguments. Scum and Villany was datamined in Feb. 2012, Makeb was announced as a content update. I don't think hard and nightmare modes of exsisting content are jump up and sing praiseworthy. (More hitpoints, they hit harder etc.)

That's about what I was thinking. I am glad they are attempting to make new content, but it still seems like they just don't get the core problems that plague the game. A new OP and nightmare modes is not a payworthy expansion imo, but I hope it brings some new stuff for max level players to do :)

We know that the stories for much of this content was written well before release.  They talked about having years of content planned.  That doesn't mean that the OPs were finished.  The stuff that was datamined was just conversation snippets.

Also all the HM FPs have had new mechanics added, they're not just "More hitpoints, they hit harder etc."  Might be a good idea to know what you're talking about before making statements about the quality of the new content.

Lastly, expansions are content updates by definition.

So if you are presenting that the new hard modes are more than that as fact, that is your cue to actually post supporting data.  Otherwise it's just, "No, I think the hard modes will have new mechanics".

I didn't say "I think", the new hardmodes DO have new mechanics.  His statement clearly implied that the only thing that made them "hardmodes" was that they bumped up their hitpoints and made them hit harder.  That's is simply not true, the fights have new wrinkles that make them different from the leveling versions.

The proof is I've done them.  If you don't believe me then here is an example:

    http://swtor.junkiesnation.com/2013/02/24/cademimu-hard-mode/

"Winding through the streets of Cademimu you’ll encounter Officer Xander and his droid EN-4C. The old version of this encounter was a tank and spank, while avoiding EN-4C. Now the fight has unavoidable mechanics that must be utilized to neutralize the pair."

Are they entirely new fights?  No, but they've been modified.

There is other new stuff coming with 2.0 that we don't have info about yet, like the GSI reputation vendor http://dulfy.net/2013/02/24/swtor-galactic-solutions-industries-gsi-vendor/

The vendor is there but there are no quests yet for GSI.

IN the interest of being objective, I patched SWTOR last night and logged in. I thought perhaps that the reconstructive process of memory had perhaps produced in me a recollection of the game that was inaccurate in comparison with current reality.

The first thing I noticed was that the load times are still long.

Then the world appeared and for a second I thought, "well that looks pretty good actually," until I moved the mouse and my view jerked 48 degrees without animating the motion. My eyes settled onto the jagged lines of Correllia's Beirut district, where Robocop Era droids with ugly red letters over their heads patrolled. No players in zone mind you, so I was nice and alone in the place where some of the daillies are located.

I was then drawn to the anatomically weird figure of my character, who is an adult male but has the waist and hips of a small child (I didn't make him with the Marvel Comics body type, nor even the smallest one). The cartoonish art design is complimented by character animations that are so cybernetic, that I had no trouble seeing my little puppet as just that.

I ran around a bit and finally turned off the computer in disgust.

The experiment complete, I can say that my memory wasn't faulty.
