...its been about a week now and I'm pretty bored.
I've run escort missions, spy missions, gathered, crafted, attempted to sell crafted items (and failed), kidnapped, ran a dungeon, and dueled. That sounds like a lot of stuff but...what else is there?
I don't really feel like I'm "advancing" my guy and I don't see a point to advancing him other than being better in duels. Large-scale group PvP doesn't seem to matter in this game and there doesn't seem to be any reward in it.
Any ideas on how to make the game exciting again?

If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
I've never done a spy mission.
Do script steal tonight. Try school wars on the weekends. Find out how to make silver off you profession. Rob a couple carts, do some bounty hunting. Join a guild work on your guild keep.
Large scale pvp battle do matter if you get in one of the large scale pvp oriented guilds....or don't who cares if so and so guild has x amount of castles.
I have been doing the 12 man dungeons recently more and more, and as such my "advancement" has started to go in that route a bit more than I had planned, I have picked up a few raid helpful skills such as the dual blade scholar line (I kind of got prodded in that direction by getting the 1st one in a script steal event)
either of the above two scenarios are probably better with a guild or knowing someone who is in a guild (pvp guild wars you actively have to be a member but raids sometime take satelite people to fill our the numbers)
Are any of your guilds recruiting?
I've gone through 2 guilds already...1 had 2-3 people active at any time and most of this most recent guild is taking a break and playing another game. Haven't had much luck finding a good, active guild....
