Looking For a Roleplaying Community

fernetekfernetek Member Posts: 61

So I wanted to ask for some suggestions for games with good roleplay communities/guilds. A friend of mine and I have been wanting to get into roleplay, but since we live with a notably large body of water between us, we figured we'd be mostly using online.

As such, we figured that, since we would be online to start with, it couldn't hurt to join some other kind of pre-existing roleplay community. Any game that doesn't have a subscription fee will do, and even a MUD-style thing would be good if the people are willing to take in some newbies to the genre.

I appreciate any suggestions!

Lord of the Rings Online has a rich role play community.

I believe the unofficial role play server is Landroval.

If you pick up GW2 the server Piken Square has a huge RP community, basically the entire city of divinity's reach is one huge rp hotspot.

+ 2, best community I have ever been part of, even the non-rp'ers there help keep immersion

That's actually untrue. That server is simply 'encouraged' meaning not everyone on that server is like-minded. However, there's a server known as Laurelin-ENRP. Which is a english role-playing server where you're supposedly re-named or banned for having unrealistic and/or unfitting names for the lotr universe. Role-play there, in my opinion, is considered better and the chances of meeting a griefer or a pvp elitist are gradually decreased-- although, not fully. You'll probably meet one or two in your time on the server.

    HAPPY GAMING!

I am not implying that you'll not get any role-play on Landroval. Quite the contrary, that server is packed with great role-players and great folk. Just hasn't the same ruleset, if I remember correctly. Therefore, I'd place it as my second bet.

Yeah but that's what unofficial means. And it seems there is a great group of role players there.
